Late May through early October is the most popular window, when the lake is fully open for swimming, boating, and the marinas are in full operation. June and September offer mild temperatures, active trails, and smaller crowds than the July and August peak. Fall shoulder season brings vivid foliage across the moraine hills and excellent biking weather on the North Shore Trail. Winter visits are possible for ice fishing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling, but most lake-based facilities are closed and overnight RV options in the immediate area are very limited.

The North Shore Bike Trail is a 7-mile paved path running along Lake Arthur's northern shoreline from Davis Hollow Marina to the Route 528 area. It is mostly flat with gentle grades, suitable for families, road bikes, and inline skaters. Trailhead lots accommodate vehicles with bike racks and small trailers.
Lake Arthur is the centerpiece of Moraine State Park and a premier sailing lake in western Pennsylvania. Eleven launch ramps and two marinas, Davis Hollow Marina on the north shore and Crescent Bay Marina on the south shore, provide access for sailboats, kayaks, and powerboats within posted horsepower limits.
Two guarded public swim beaches operate seasonally on opposite shores of Lake Arthur. Pleasant Valley on the south shore and Lakeview on the north shore both offer sand beaches, changing facilities, concessions, and large day-use parking areas. Swimming is permitted only during posted lifeguard hours.
Glacier Ridge Trail is a multi-use backcountry trail that crosses through Moraine State Park and links to Jennings Environmental Education Center and McConnells Mill State Park. The full trail is roughly 12 miles one way through rolling glacial terrain, with shorter out-and-back options from park trailheads. It is used for hiking, backpacking, and cross-country skiing.
Sunken Garden Trail is a short hiking loop on the north shore that passes the remnants of an early-20th-century estate garden. It is about 1 mile long with modest elevation change, making it a good quick leg-stretcher for RV travelers stopping for the day. Interpretive signage covers local glacial geology.
Lake Arthur is a 3,225-acre warm-water fishery managed by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, with largemouth bass, muskellunge, walleye, crappie, and channel catfish. Shore fishing areas and accessible piers are distributed around the lake, and ice fishing is popular in winter when conditions allow. A valid Pennsylvania fishing license is required.
Moraine's south shore hosts a network of designated equestrian and mountain biking trails covering more than 20 miles. Routes traverse woodlands, meadows, and reclaimed mining land with rolling terrain and occasional technical sections. Trailer parking for horses is available at the equestrian staging area off Mt. Union Road.

Matt amd Kara, the owners of this RV, are awesome. Everything was just as it was described. They made sure that I knew how to do everything and went through the set up process in detail. I had no issues with set up. They had a very useful guide manual kept inside the RV just in case you got hung up on any set up. Everything needed to have an easy and enjoyable trip was all ready to go. Towing this trailer was very easy. I will definitely use these renters in the future.

Moraine State Park, PA, United States
Moraine State Park sits just off Interstate 79 at exits 96 and 99, about an hour north of downtown Pittsburgh (roughly 40 miles) and about 70 miles south of Erie. Access is via US Route 422, which bisects the park and links to I-79, making it straightforward for RVs without significant mountain grades or tunnel restrictions. Drivers should still watch for rolling grades on US 422 and low-clearance rural bridges if detouring onto secondary roads. Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips, about 55 miles to the southwest.
