Late April through June and September through October are the prime windows for RV travel, offering mild temperatures, clear long-distance views, and peak wildflower or fall color displays. Summer weather is pleasant at elevation but weekends fill quickly with campers escaping the valley heat. Winter visits are possible and quieter, though occasional ice storms can close the mountain roads and some facilities scale back.
Cold and occasionally icy; check road conditions before ascending the mountain
Winter weather possible; some facilities on reduced hours
Early wildflowers begin; variable spring storms
Peak spring wildflower viewing
Thunderstorms common; excellent hiking conditions
Warm and humid; cooler than the valley floor
Peak season; reserve RV sites well in advance
Hot; pack plenty of water for trails
Pleasant shoulder season with lighter crowds
Fall foliage peaks mid to late month
Cool and increasingly quiet
Ice events may temporarily close Scenic Highway 309 to the summit

Good hosts to work with!

My wife and I had a great experience with this Camper. There was one issue with the water when we arrived, but John stayed with us until he was able to make a temporary fix to last us the duration which we really appreciated. I have full confidence he will get that solved permanently as soon as possible. Other than that everything worked perfectly. Propane lasted with no problems and Brittany was very communicative with the details throughout the entire process. The camper is a bit older and has some expected wear and tear, but it is a great value and definitely will give you a good experience! Would recommend and use again.

Mount Magazine State Park, AR, United States
Mount Magazine State Park is located on Scenic Highway 309 approximately 17 miles south of Paris; or from Danville, travel nine miles west on Arkansas 10 to Havana, then go 10 miles north on Scenic Highway 309. From Fort Smith it is roughly an hour and 20 minutes by car, and from Little Rock about two and a half hours. The final approach on Highway 309 climbs steep, winding grades with switchbacks, so RV drivers should descend in low gear, check brakes, and watch for sharp curves and wildlife. Fort Smith Regional Airport is the closest option for fly-and-rent travelers.
