Late spring through early fall, roughly May to September, offers the most reliable weather for RV travel on Highway 5 and the best conditions for riverside camping. July and August bring peak temperatures and the busiest campsites, so reservations are recommended well in advance. June and September serve as quieter shoulder seasons with cooler nights and fewer crowds. Winter visits are limited as facilities are seasonal and mountain driving conditions can be challenging.

The park is located 5 km south of Clearwater, just off Highway 5. From Kamloops, the drive is roughly 125 km (about 1.5 hours) north on Highway 5, while Valemount lies about 225 km to the north. RVers should prepare for long grades and winding sections along the Yellowhead Highway corridor, and watch for wildlife on the road at dawn and dusk. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Kamloops Airport (YKA), with Kelowna (YLW) serving as a larger alternative to the south.
