Late May through early October offers the most comfortable conditions, with warm days, dry trails, and full access to the pond and picnic areas. Summer draws the most visitors, especially weekends, so arriving early keeps parking easier for larger tow vehicles. Fall foliage in late September and early October is a highlight, with maples and oaks turning along the pond loop. Shoulder months of April and November can be muddy and chilly, and winter access is limited to walk-in use for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

The Meadow Lake Loop is a wide, mostly level gravel path that circles the park's central pond. It is suitable for walkers, joggers, strollers, and adaptive users, and offers shaded benches and views of the water. Expect roughly a mile of easy walking from the main lot.
Anglers can fish from the shoreline and accessible fishing platform near the main pavilion. The small pond holds warmwater species and is a quiet spot for kids to cast a line. A valid New Hampshire fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older.
The park's interconnected woods roads and singletrack offer several miles of moderate mountain biking on rolling terrain. Routes are mostly hard-packed gravel and forest floor, with a few rooty sections. Riders should yield to hikers on the main loop.
Northwood Meadows is a quiet spot for birding around the pond and wetlands. Warblers, herons, and waterfowl are commonly seen in spring and summer, and deer and turkey browse the meadow edges. Bring binoculars and stick to the main trail early in the morning.
The gated entrance area includes a covered picnic pavilion and open lawn near the pond. It is a convenient stop for a day trip lunch between exploring the Lakes Region and the Seacoast. Carry in, carry out rules apply throughout the park.
In winter the vehicle gate is closed and the park becomes a walk-in destination for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The flat main loop is a gentle introduction for beginners, while side trails add distance. Park along the shoulder outside the gate and follow posted winter use rules.
Matt was easy to deal with. He dropped off on time , as promised, and set the entire camper for us, inside & out

Northwood Meadows State Park, NH, United States
The park entrance is on US Route 4 in Northwood, roughly a 30 minute drive east of Concord and about 45 minutes northwest of Portsmouth. From Manchester, plan on around one hour via NH Route 101 and NH Route 43. Route 4 is a two-lane state highway with rolling grades and some tight village sections in Northwood and Chichester, so RV drivers should watch for traffic slowing near antique shops and lake crossings. The closest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, with Boston Logan about 90 minutes south.
