Late June through early September is the prime window for RV travel, with warm interior-BC days, long evenings on the lake, and reliably open access roads. The park offers services during the peak season, when all of the sites in Otter Lake Campground are reservable and non-occupied reservation sites can accommodate first-come, first-served customers. Late spring and early fall offer cooler temperatures and thinner crowds, though overnight frosts are possible. Winter visits are limited to day-use and ice fishing once the lake freezes, since the campground operates seasonally.

Otter Lake offers stocked rainbow trout fishing from boat or shore. The lake is known for sport fishing, ice fishing is possible once it freezes, and anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence. bcparks.ca/otter-lake-park/
Paddling is one of the signature activities at the park. Canoeing and kayaking are allowed on Otter Lake, and the narrow lake is ideal for non-motorized watercraft with plenty of shoreline to explore opposite the campground. bcparks.ca/otter-lake-park/
A short walking trail follows the shoreline near the campground. There is a nature trail along the lake. It is a quick leg-stretcher suitable for most ages. bcparks.ca/otter-lake-park/
Riders and walkers can access the historic rail trail across the lake from the park. Across the lake, and visible from the campground and day-use area, is the Trans Canada Trail, which follows the Kettle Valley Railway line past Otter Lake on its way from Princeton to Merritt. bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/otter_lk/index.html
The Tulameen day-use area is the park's main swimming spot. A small beach at the campground boat launch provides a spot to swim though it is better at the day-use area in Tulameen. Picnic tables make it a good lunch stop for RVers. bcparks.ca/otter-lake-park/
The lakeside campground is a base for exploring local heritage. Tulameen, just 5 km south of the campground, is an area steeped in mining history and pioneer legend. Self-guided drives and short walks pass former Hudson's Bay Company brigade routes. bcparks.ca/otter-lake-park/
The park sits in prime Cascade habitat for spotting birds and mammals. Large numbers of otter, beaver and red squirrel inhabit the area, as well as mountain goats, cougars and grizzly bears. Keep food secured and give wildlife distance. bcparks.ca/otter-lake-park/

This is our 3rd year in a row, renting from Steve now, and as per usual, the experience was fantastic! If you are aren't sure, I can tell you that you don't need to worry, Steve is definitely your guy. We will rent from him as long as he is renting his trailer out on this platform. See you again next year, Steve! ☺️

Otter Lake Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park is located 33 km northwest of Princeton off Hwy 5A toward Coalmont and Tulameen, and the route is well marked with signs; there is also access from Hwy 97C, the Coquihalla Connector Hwy, by turning at Aspen Grove onto Hwy 5A and following signs. From Vancouver allow roughly four hours via the Coquihalla, and from Kelowna about three hours via Hwy 97C. The roads, both from Tulameen and the gravel road from the north, are narrow and winding with limited visibility, so use caution and yield to logging trucks. Accessing the park using secondary forestry roads from B.C.'s lower mainland, as suggested by Google, is not recommended, as these routes are unreliable and are not safe. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Kelowna International Airport (YLW).
