Pattison State Park, WI, United States
From Superior, Wisconsin, the park is roughly a 20 minute drive south on State Highway 35. Duluth, Minnesota is about 25 miles northwest and offers the nearest large grocery and fuel stops for RVers, while Minneapolis-St. Paul is about 165 miles south, a drive of around two and a half to three hours on I-35. The closest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is Duluth International Airport (DLH), about 20 miles away. Highway 35 is a paved two-lane state highway with no tunnels, height restrictions, or significant mountain grades, making access straightforward for most travel trailers and Class A motorhomes, though drivers should watch for sharp turns into the campground entrance.
Late June through early September is the prime window, with warm days, swimmable water at Interfalls Lake, and all campground loops open. Late September into early October brings vivid fall color across the Black River gorge and lighter crowds, though nights turn cold quickly in northern Wisconsin. May and early June are good shoulder months for waterfall flow from snowmelt and spring rain, but expect wet trails and biting insects. Winter visits focus on day use, snowshoeing, and ice formations at the falls, while the campground is closed.

Big Manitou Falls is a 165-foot waterfall on the Black River, the highest in Wisconsin and one of the tallest east of the Rockies. A short paved path from the main parking area leads to fenced overlooks above the gorge, making it accessible for most visitors. Trailhead parking accommodates RVs in pull-through and longer stalls.
Little Manitou Falls is a 31-foot cascade on the Black River reached by a short paved walk from its own parking area off Highway 35. The viewing platform sits directly across from the falls. The lot is small but typically suitable for medium-sized RVs and trailers when the park is not crowded.
Interfalls Lake is a small dammed lake at the heart of the park with a sand swimming beach, picnic area, and shoreline fishing. It sits between the two waterfalls and is the social hub of summer day use. Day-use parking is close to the campground for easy walk-over access.
The Logging Camp Trail is a moderate loop through mixed northern forest north of the campground that interprets the area's logging history. The route includes some rooty and uneven sections but no major elevation gains. It is a good leg-stretcher between waterfall stops.
Beaver Slide Nature Trail is a self-guided loop that follows the Black River and crosses small wetlands where beaver activity is common. Interpretive signs cover plants, wildlife, and the river ecosystem. The trailhead is near the picnic area and is accessible from RV-friendly day-use parking.
The Black River and Interfalls Lake support fishing for stocked trout, panfish, and bass within the park boundary. Anglers can fish from shore at Interfalls Lake or wade quieter sections of the river. A current Wisconsin fishing license is required for anyone 16 and older.
Pattison's family campground offers electric and non-electric sites set in a wooded loop a short walk from Interfalls Lake. Modern restrooms with showers and a sanitary dump station serve RV campers. Sites are reservable through the Wisconsin DNR reservation system in the open season.
