Late May through early October is the prime window, when the campground is open, the pond is warm enough for swimming, and trails are dry. July and August bring the busiest weekends and the highest demand for campsites, so midweek stays are easier to book. Early fall offers cool nights, fewer bugs, and peak New England foliage in late September and October. Winter is quiet, with the campground closed and only day-use access for skiing and snowshoeing.

Pearl Hill Pond is a small dammed reservoir at the heart of the park with a sand beach and designated swim area. Lifeguards are on duty during summer, and the grassy picnic areas beside the water work well for day trips from the campground.
A network of wooded trails loops through the park and connects to the larger trail system in adjacent Willard Brook State Forest. Most routes are short, gently rolling, and suitable for families, with soft footing on pine needles and old woods roads.
Pearl Hill Pond supports warmwater species including largemouth bass, pickerel, and panfish. Shore fishing is easy from the day-use area, and small hand-carried boats can be launched, though gas motors are generally not permitted on this size of pond.
The park's seasonal campground has wooded tent and trailer sites set among pines and hardwoods. Sites are rustic, which suits self-contained RVs that do not require hookups.
Adjacent Willard Brook State Forest adds miles of trails, Damon Pond Beach, and access to Trap Falls, a scenic cascade along Route 119. The forest is managed with Pearl Hill, making it a natural extension of any visit.
Gravel roads and multi-use trails within the park and connecting forest are popular with mountain bikers. Terrain is moderate with rolling hills rather than technical singletrack, making it approachable for intermediate riders.
In winter the day-use area and trail network are open for non-motorized recreation when snow cover allows. The gentle terrain is well suited to beginner cross-country skiers and snowshoers.

We’ve used this trailer a few times now and love it! It’s spacious and the kids love the bunk beds and the master bed is super comfy too. Would definitely use again!

Pearl Hill State Park, MA, United States
The park is about 55 miles northwest of Boston, roughly a 1 hour 15 minute drive via Route 2 and Route 119. Worcester is about 35 miles south, approximately a 45 minute drive, and Manchester, New Hampshire, is around 45 minutes north. Access roads are standard New England two-lane highways with some narrow, winding sections through Ashby and Townsend, so long RVs should approach via Route 119 rather than smaller connector roads. Boston Logan International Airport is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, with Manchester-Boston Regional Airport a closer alternative.
