Late May through September offers the most comfortable weather for hiking the valley trails and using the viewpoints, with long daylight and dry, warm days. Spring (April to May) and fall (September to October) are standout seasons for birding, as the valley is a known migration corridor for raptors and songbirds. July and August are peak visitation, while shoulder months tend to be quieter and more comfortable for RV travel. Winter access is limited and facilities are not maintained for day-use recreation.

The park's upland viewpoints deliver sweeping views of the Pembina River valley and the Manitoba Escarpment. Short walks from the day-use parking area lead to several overlook points that are especially striking at sunrise and sunset.
A network of foot trails winds through mixed hardwood forest and down into the river valley. Grades are moderate where paths descend the escarpment, so hikers should be prepared for uphill returns.
Pembina Valley is one of the best-known raptor migration corridors on the Manitoba prairies. Spring and fall bring concentrations of hawks, eagles, and songbirds moving along the valley ridges.
The wooded valley supports white-tailed deer, red fox, coyote, and a wide variety of woodland birds. Early morning and evening visits offer the best chances for wildlife sightings.
Day-use picnic areas near the main parking area provide a shaded base for a relaxed afternoon. Tables and basic facilities make this a convenient lunch stop during an RV day trip.
The layered ridges, oxbow bends of the Pembina River, and seasonal colour make the park a rewarding stop for landscape photographers. Autumn foliage in late September and early October is a particular highlight.

Pembina Valley Provincial Park, MB, Canada
The park sits in southern Manitoba near La Riviere, roughly a 2 to 2.5 hour drive southwest of Winnipeg and about 45 minutes south of Morden via Provincial Road 201 and Provincial Road 432. Access roads into the valley include steep grades and narrow gravel sections, so large Class A motorhomes and long fifth wheels should scout the final approach and turnaround areas carefully. There are no tunnels or weight-restricted bridges on the main approach, but winter and wet-weather conditions can make the gravel descents slippery. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG).
