Spring and fall are the best times to visit, with April through June and September through October offering mild temperatures ideal for climbing and hiking. Summer brings hot, dry conditions that can make the exposed sandstone uncomfortable by midday, so early-morning visits are preferable. The park typically closes in winter due to snow and ice on the approach trails and rock. Shoulder-season travelers should check the Washington State Parks website for seasonal opening and closing dates before arrival.

The park is best known for multi-pitch sandstone slab climbing on its signature pinnacles and faces. Established routes range from beginner-friendly slabs to more technical lines on formations such as Orchard Rock, Sunset Slab, and Grand Central Tower. Climbers should bring their own gear and verify route conditions before committing.
Short, steep footpaths loop from the parking area to the base of each major formation. The trails provide non-climbers with close-up views of the pinnacles and overlooks of the Wenatchee River valley. Expect roughly one to two miles of total walking across the full trail network.
The pinnacles are especially photogenic in morning and late-afternoon light. Open sightlines from the park show the sandstone spires framed by fruit orchards, the Wenatchee River, and the Cascade foothills beyond.
Day-use picnic areas near the parking lot offer a shaded stop between the highway and the climbing walls. Tables provide a convenient lunch break for travelers on the U.S. 2 corridor between Leavenworth and Wenatchee.
In spring, the dry sagebrush slopes around the pinnacles bloom with balsamroot, lupine, and other shrub-steppe wildflowers. Late April through May is typically the best window for color.
The Bavarian-themed town of Leavenworth lies about 15 minutes west on U.S. 2 and makes a natural add-on to a park visit. Travelers can combine climbing or hiking at the pinnacles with shopping, dining, and riverside walks in the village.
The Wenatchee River runs parallel to the park along U.S. 2, offering fishing, rafting, and paddling access points nearby. Several commercial outfitters operate seasonal trips from Leavenworth and Cashmere.
Stayed in the camper for two nights at a campground just outside Wenatchee. Had everything we needed, the AC was an absolute saver in the summer heat. Host was incredibly responsive and nice, would happily rent again.

Peshastin Pinnacles State Park, WA, United States
The park sits just off U.S. Highway 2 near Dryden, about 7 miles east of Leavenworth and roughly 17 miles west of Wenatchee. From Seattle, expect a drive of about 2.5 to 3 hours via U.S. 2 over Stevens Pass, a mountain route with steep grades, tight curves, and winter chain requirements that RV drivers should plan for carefully. From the south, travelers on I-90 can connect via Blewett Pass (US 97), another mountain crossing with long grades. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Pangborn Memorial Airport in East Wenatchee, with larger service available at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
