Late June through early September is the prime window, when Northumberland Strait water temperatures are among the warmest north of the Carolinas and coastal weather is mild. July and August bring peak visitation and the best beach days, while shoulder months of June and September offer quieter picnics and good birding with cooler nights. Spring can be windy and damp, and late-autumn visits bring early sunsets and the risk of coastal storms. Winter access is limited and facilities are closed.

A short, informal walk along the point offers views across the Northumberland Strait. Level terrain and sea breezes make it suitable for most visitors, and benches or grassy spots are available for resting.
The day-use area has picnic tables set near the shoreline for lunch stops during a Sunrise Trail drive. It is a convenient break for RV travellers touring between Amherst and Pictou.
The mix of salt marsh, shoreline, and woodland edge attracts shorebirds, seabirds, and songbirds through spring, summer, and fall. Binoculars are recommended for viewing distant waterfowl on the water.
The Northumberland Strait is known for some of the warmest saltwater north of the Carolinas during mid-summer. Swimming is unsupervised, so families should use caution and watch tides.
Route 6 along Nova Scotia's north shore is a classic RV-friendly coastal drive linking small fishing villages between Amherst and Pictou. Powells Point makes a natural stretch-and-view stop along the route.
The low coastal horizon creates long sunset and sunrise views over the water. Rural surroundings and limited light pollution also make the area suitable for casual stargazing on clear nights.
This trip was amazing! It all started the day before we were supposed to pick up the RV, I was admitted into the hospital to have my appendix removed. Our hosts had a few days after we finished our original trip so they bumped it four days to accommodate our trip. We changed our plans but it worked out for the best. We traveled all around the south part of Nova Scotia, staying at The Ovens, Scallywags in Clare and then the last stop was at the campground at the Blomidon Lookoff. The RV was absolutely perfect from start to finish and for the size of it was very good on fuel. $465 for just over 1200km in a F-450, which is great fuel mileage. We normally go testing but tried this, our next testing camping trip will be horrible. Lol. We will feel spoiled. If you are considering this size of vehicle and this style of trip, this vehicle and host make the experience so much better! Book it while you can!

The rv was just the right size for our family of 5 to create a memorable trip. The rv is fully equipped, has plenty of power to climb and safely descend Cape Bretons Cabot trail and surroundings plus tons of little extras. We were actually impressed by the fuel consumption and handling of this rv. All being said, we agree with pretty much all the previous reviews. The host(s) were spot on and adaptive to our needs. Once again, no regrets going with RVezy.

Powells Point Provincial Park, NS, Canada
The park lies off Route 6 (the Sunrise Trail) in northern Nova Scotia, roughly a 45-minute drive east of Amherst and about 1 hour 45 minutes northeast of Halifax via Highway 104 and Route 6. Truro is about an hour south, offering grocery and fuel stops suitable for larger rigs. Roads in the area are paved two-lane highways with no tunnels or steep mountain passes, though the final access road to the point is narrow, so drivers of longer motorhomes should scout turnarounds before committing. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ), about a two-hour drive away.
