Late May through early October is the prime window for RV trips, when all campgrounds are open, the lakes are warm enough for swimming, and trailhead access is reliable. July and August bring the busiest weekends and the warmest water, so reservations fill quickly. Early fall, mid-September into mid-October, offers cooler nights, thinner crowds, and peak Pocono foliage. Late April and early May work as shoulder season for anglers, though nights can still drop near freezing at this elevation.

Promised Land Lake is a 422-acre impoundment at the center of the park, open to boating, fishing and swimming. A guarded sand beach and boat rentals operate in summer, and electric-only motors keep the water quiet. Trailered boats can launch from multiple ramps with paved lots large enough for tow vehicles.
Conservation Island is a self-guided interpretive loop reached by footbridge from the main day-use area. The 1.2-mile trail is easy, level and family-friendly, passing hemlock groves and overlooks on the lake. Interpretive signs highlight the park's Civilian Conservation Corps history.
The Bruce Lake Natural Area is a 2,845-acre wild area accessed from a trailhead inside the park. A round-trip of roughly 5 miles on old forest roads leads to glacial Bruce Lake, a quiet, undeveloped pond. The terrain is rolling but non-technical.
Lower Lake is a 173-acre non-powered lake ideal for canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards. Its shoreline is largely undeveloped and popular for birdwatching, with bald eagles, loons and great blue herons frequently seen. A small launch and parking area serve the lake.
The park museum occupies a stone building constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and tells the story of the CCC camps that shaped the park. A short interpretive trail links the museum with original CCC-era pavilions and cabins. Parking near the museum accommodates smaller motorhomes and tow vehicles.
Both park lakes are stocked and managed for warmwater and coolwater species, including largemouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch and panfish. Shore access is plentiful, and the lakes freeze reliably for ice fishing in winter. A Pennsylvania fishing license is required.
Little Falls Trail is a short, rocky hike to a small cascade on a feeder stream. The out-and-back route is under 2 miles total and offers one of the park's most photogenic spots, especially in spring runoff. Footing is uneven in places, so sturdy shoes are recommended.
When snow cover is sufficient, park roads and designated trails open to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Ungroomed trails connect into the surrounding Delaware State Forest system for longer outings. Winter day-use parking remains plowed at the main lot.
Wonderful couple of days with family in Pennsylvania. Malik was kind and professional will definitely book with him again.

This is the second time we’ve rented this camper and we had another great experience with it on our weekend camping trip! Owner is very responsive and easy to work with. Would definitely recommend.

Promised Land State Park, PA, United States
The park is off Pennsylvania Route 390, about 10 miles north of Interstate 84 via the Mount Cobb or Greentown exits. Scranton is roughly 25 miles west (about 40 minutes), Allentown is around 75 miles south (90 minutes), and New York City is about 110 miles east (two and a half to three hours). RV drivers should note that PA 390 and local access roads through the Poconos include rolling grades and some narrow, tree-lined stretches, so large rigs should plan a daylight approach. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International, about an hour away; Lehigh Valley International and Newark Liberty are additional options.
