Late May through mid-October is the best window for RV travel, with warm days, full campground services, and the beach open through Labor Day. June brings peak wildflower displays in the Wildflower Reserve, while September and October offer cooler nights, lighter crowds, and strong fall foliage across the hardwood forest. Spring shoulder season can be muddy on the trails, and winter visitors should expect reduced amenities and potential snow on park roads.

The Wildflower Reserve is a 314-acre botanical area at the eastern end of the park with more than 500 documented species of wildflowers. Five miles of interconnecting trails loop through floodplain and hillside habitats along Raccoon Creek. A paved parking area at the reserve entrance accommodates cars and smaller RVs.
Raccoon Lake is a 101-acre impoundment offering a guarded sand beach, boat rentals, and a public boat launch. Only electric motors and non-powered craft are permitted, making it ideal for kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding. The day-use parking lot is large enough for RV day-trippers.
The Frankfort Mineral Springs Trail is a short 1.3-mile loop leading to the ruins of a 19th-century resort and a small waterfall once famed for its mineral waters. The trail is a popular historical and photographic stop within the park. Trailhead parking is available near the historic site.
Raccoon Creek offers more than 40 miles of trails, with the Appaloosa and Heritage loops covering varied terrain through hardwood forest and old farm fields. Many sections are shared with equestrians and mountain bikers. Trailhead lots at the park office and near the campground accept RVs.
Raccoon Lake is stocked by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission with trout in spring and holds largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. Bank fishing and a boat launch are available, and a Pennsylvania fishing license is required. Shore access points have nearby paved parking.
The park maintains dedicated equestrian trails and a horse trailer parking area for riders bringing their own stock. Trails wind through wooded uplands and open meadows on the park's northern side. Day-use equestrian parking can accommodate trucks with trailers and tow-behind RVs.
Raccoon Creek features an 18-hole disc golf course laid out across wooded and open terrain near the main day-use area. The course is free to play and suitable for beginners and experienced players alike. Parking for the course is adjacent to the tee pads.
What a fun week we had as a family. Thank you to the owners and the communication was excellent. I was a first time RV driver so i had a few questions on how to hook everything up. When i arrived and the owners face timed me to help me figure everything out. We are already looking into our next RV trip!! Thank you

Dan’s camper was perfect for our weekend camping trip. It was clean, organized, and fit our family of 4 with plenty of room. Dan was very helpful at pick up and drop off getting everything hooked up and offloaded.

Raccoon Creek State Park, PA, United States
The park sits off U.S. Route 30 in Hanover Township, about 25 miles (roughly 40 minutes) west of downtown Pittsburgh and about 35 miles east of Weirton, West Virginia. Most RVers approach via Interstate 376 to PA Route 18 south, then U.S. 30 west, a route without major tunnels or severe grades, though the final approaches include rolling terrain and some tight two-lane sections. Pittsburgh drivers towing tall or wide rigs should note that the Fort Pitt and Squirrel Hill tunnels on I-376 have vehicle restrictions, and propane-equipped RVs must follow PennDOT tunnel rules. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), only about 20 miles northeast of the park.
