The best time to visit Red Point Provincial Park is from late June through August, when the campground is fully operational, ocean water temperatures along the Northumberland Strait are at their warmest, and daytime highs sit comfortably in the low to mid 20s Celsius. July and early August bring peak crowds and the liveliest beach scene, so reservations are strongly recommended during this window. Early June and September are quieter shoulder-season options with cooler nights, fewer bugs, and good weather for cycling and coastal walks. The park is closed outside the summer operating season, so off-season RV travel is not possible on site.

The eastern terminus of PEI's Confederation Trail is in nearby Elmira, about 20 kilometres from Red Point. The rail-trail offers flat, packed-surface cycling and walking through woodlands and farmland, suitable for all ability levels.
The shoreline at Red Point is excellent for beachcombing at low tide, with sea glass, shells, and small tidepools along the sandstone shelves. It is a quiet, low-impact activity right from the campground.
