Best time to visit Roper Lake State Park

October through April offers the most comfortable weather for RV travel, with warm days, cool nights, and mild lake temperatures. Winter is peak season thanks to snowbird traffic and clear, dry skies, so reservations fill early. Summer brings hot afternoons often above 100 F and monsoon thunderstorms from July into September, though mornings at the lake remain usable. Spring shoulder season, March and April, balances wildflowers, open campsites, and fewer crowds.

The park sits just off U.S. Highway 191 about six miles south of Safford, Arizona.
