Late spring through early fall offers the best conditions for visiting, with May, June, and September providing warm, dry days ideal for picnicking, boating, and exploring the interpretive center. The park is open seasonally from April through October, and the interpretive center operates Wednesdays through Sundays. Midsummer brings high heat to the Columbia Plateau, so shoulder months in spring and early autumn are more comfortable for outdoor activities. The park is closed in winter, so RV travelers should plan trips within the open season.

The Sacajawea Interpretive Center features exhibits focused on the Lewis and Clark Expedition, Sacagawea, and the Sahaptian-speaking Native Americans of the Columbia Plateau, where visitors can touch items like the tule used to make lodges and see a smaller-scale example of a tule mat lodge. The interpretive center is open Wednesdays through Sundays during the operating season. nps.gov/thingstodo/hanford-visit-sacajawea-interpretive-center.htm
Outdoor public art at the meeting of the Snake and Columbia rivers tells the deeper history of the place. Maya Lin has designed seven story circles that explore the Native cultures, language, flora and fauna, geology, and natural history of the site, and as visitors pass from one story circle to the next they consider how rivers, cultures, communities, and environmental forces have shaped the land. nps.gov/places/confluence-story-circles.htm
The park provides direct water access at the meeting of two major rivers. On-site facilities include a boat ramp, canoe/kayak/small boat launch, beach and water access, restrooms, and trash receptacles. Anglers fish for bass, walleye, and other warmwater species along 9,100 feet of shoreline. nps.gov/places/000/sacajawea-state-historical-park.htm
Self-guided interpretive tours, hiking trails, and recreational facilities such as a boat launch, swim beach, and horseshoe pit are available to enjoy. Shaded picnic areas with tables and grills make this an easy stop for RV travelers spending a day at the rivers. nps.gov/places/000/sacajawea-state-historical-park.htm
The trail explores the Columbia River waterfront in Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland and consists of a 23-mile loop that is mostly off public roads and connects to the Richland Riverfront Trail for additional cycling and walking opportunities. RV travelers can park at Sacajawea Historical State Park and access the trail directly from the day-use lot. nps.gov/thingstodo/hanford-bike-and-walk-the-sacagawea-trail.htm
The riparian habitat at the confluence attracts a wide variety of waterfowl, raptors, and songbirds throughout the open season. Visitors can enjoy picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, bicycling, hiking, bird watching, and wildlife viewing alongside the rivers. nps.gov/thingstodo/hanford-enjoy-sacajawea-historical-state-park.htm
An annual two-day event brings the park's history to life each fall. Heritage Days is held at the park at the end of September every year, with living history displays about the Corps of Discovery, fur trappers and traders, and the culture and practices of the Wanapum, Umatilla, and Yakama peoples, plus displays by local museums, archeological groups, wildlife rescue groups, and others. nps.gov/articles/sacajawea-state-park.htm

Sacajawea Historical State Park, WA, United States
The park sits on the eastern edge of Pasco, Washington, just off US-12, roughly 10 minutes from downtown Pasco and the Tri-Cities of Kennewick and Richland. From Spokane the drive is about 140 miles south on US-395, around two and a half hours, while Seattle is about 220 miles east via I-90 and I-82, roughly four hours including the climb over Snoqualmie Pass where chains can be required in winter. RV drivers should watch for strong crosswinds along the Columbia Basin and be aware that some interior roads inside the park are narrow and tree-lined. The nearest fly-and-rent option is Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) in Pasco, only a few miles from the park entrance.
