Salt Fork State Park, OH, United States
The park entrance is roughly 7 miles northeast of Cambridge, Ohio, just off U.S. Route 22, with Interstate 77 providing the main regional approach. Drive times are about 80 miles (1 hour 30 minutes) from Columbus, 95 miles (1 hour 45 minutes) from Pittsburgh, and 120 miles (2 hours 15 minutes) from Cleveland. Park roads are paved but include rolling grades and some tight curves near campground loops, so drivers of longer rigs should use caution on interior routes and watch for low-hanging branches on secondary roads. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), with John Glenn Columbus International (CMH) a similar distance to the west.
Late May through early October is the prime window, when the campground, beach, and marina are fully operational and daytime highs sit in a comfortable range for hiking and boating. July and August are peak season and book out on weekends, so reservations well in advance are recommended. Shoulder months of May, September, and October bring thinner crowds, cooler nights, and strong fall color across the hardwood ridges. Winter is quiet, with most facilities closed and limited services available.

Salt Fork Lake is a nearly 3,000-acre reservoir at the heart of the park that supports powerboating, sailing, and fishing for muskellunge, bass, walleye, and crappie. A full-service marina offers launch ramps, docks, and seasonal rentals. RVers can access multiple paved boat ramps with trailer parking.
The park's swimming beach is one of the longest inland beaches at an Ohio state park, stretching along the lake with sand, shallow water, and seasonal swimming access. Picnic areas and restrooms sit adjacent to the beach parking lot. The paved day-use lot can accommodate larger vehicles in off-peak hours.
Hosak's Cave Trail is a short woodland walk leading to a large recessed sandstone overhang tucked into a wooded hollow. The trail is a local favorite for its unique geology and cool microclimate. A small trailhead parking area fits standard tow vehicles; larger rigs should park in day-use lots and drive over.
The Kennedy Stone House is a restored 19th-century stone home accessible via a wooded trail along the lakeshore. Interpretive programs run seasonally on select weekends. The route is scenic but rustic, and the trailhead lot is best suited to smaller vehicles.
An 18-hole public golf course occupies rolling terrain within the park and is open seasonally. The clubhouse parking area has space for standard vehicles and a few larger rigs. Tee times can be booked through the park concessionaire.
The park maintains more than a dozen hiking trails plus dedicated bridle trails winding through hardwood forest, meadows, and lake overlooks. Routes range from short nature loops near the campground to longer backcountry loops. Trailhead lots near the campground and lodge are the most RV-friendly access points.
Salt Fork is known for abundant whitetail deer, wild turkey, and raptors, and it draws leaf-peepers in October for vibrant hardwood color. Scenic drives through the park connect multiple pull-offs and overlooks. Most overlooks have paved parking suitable for RVs and tow rigs.
