Late June through early September offers the warmest weather and the most reliable conditions for picnicking and wading in the brook. July and August are peak season across Nova Scotia, with long daylight hours and the driest stretch of the year. Early fall brings cooler temperatures and autumn colour along the hardwood ridges of Pictou County, which can be a quieter time to visit. Spring visits are possible once seasonal gates open, but expect muddy ground and high water in the brook from snowmelt.

The main attraction at Salt Springs is a shaded picnic area with tables set under mature trees. It is an easy stop for RV travellers to stretch, cook a meal, and let children run in the grass. Pack out what you pack in, as facilities are limited.
The brook that runs through the park offers cool, shallow water that families use for wading and splashing on hot days. Footing on the stones can be slippery, so water shoes are recommended. There is no lifeguard on duty.
Informal paths wind through the hardwood and softwood mix along the brook and the edges of the day-use area. These are short, flat strolls rather than formal hiking trails, suitable for most ages.
The historic waterfront town of Pictou is about a 30 minute drive north and a popular add-on to a Salt Springs visit. Travellers can explore the Hector Heritage Quay, sample local seafood, and access warm-water beaches along the Northumberland Strait.
The Cape George Heritage Scenic Drive loops northeast through Antigonish County with coastal views over the Northumberland Strait. It pairs well with a picnic lunch at Salt Springs before or after the drive.
Melmerby Beach is a long sandy beach on the Northumberland Shore, roughly 45 minutes from Salt Springs. The warm summer water temperatures are among the highest north of the Carolinas, making it a favourite beach day for RV travellers in the region.
The mix of mature forest, open lawn, and running water attracts songbirds, woodpeckers, and the occasional raptor. Bring binoculars and walk quietly along the shaded edges of the picnic area for the best sightings.
Janice was excellent to deal with, quick to respond to any inquiry and delivered our RV on time as requested. We would absolutely use this service again. Thank you Janice.

They made it the best possible experience ever.

This trip was amazing! It all started the day before we were supposed to pick up the RV, I was admitted into the hospital to have my appendix removed. Our hosts had a few days after we finished our original trip so they bumped it four days to accommodate our trip. We changed our plans but it worked out for the best. We traveled all around the south part of Nova Scotia, staying at The Ovens, Scallywags in Clare and then the last stop was at the campground at the Blomidon Lookoff. The RV was absolutely perfect from start to finish and for the size of it was very good on fuel. $465 for just over 1200km in a F-450, which is great fuel mileage. We normally go testing but tried this, our next testing camping trip will be horrible. Lol. We will feel spoiled. If you are considering this size of vehicle and this style of trip, this vehicle and host make the experience so much better! Book it while you can!

The rv was just the right size for our family of 5 to create a memorable trip. The rv is fully equipped, has plenty of power to climb and safely descend Cape Bretons Cabot trail and surroundings plus tons of little extras. We were actually impressed by the fuel consumption and handling of this rv. All being said, we agree with pretty much all the previous reviews. The host(s) were spot on and adaptive to our needs. Once again, no regrets going with RVezy.

Salt Springs Provincial Park, NS, Canada
Salt Springs Provincial Park lies just off Highway 104, the main Trans-Canada route through northern mainland Nova Scotia. It is roughly a 20 minute drive west of New Glasgow, about one hour east of Truro, and approximately 1.5 to 2 hours northeast of Halifax depending on traffic. RV drivers will find Highway 104 to be a modern twinned or divided highway in this area with no tunnels or severe grades, though the approach road into the day-use area is narrow and best suited to smaller motorhomes and trailers. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ).
