Sandbar Lake Provincial Park, United States
The park is located 11 kilometres north of Ignace via Highway 599, accessible from Highway 17 (Trans-Canada Highway). Ignace is approximately 246 kilometres (2.5 to 3 hours) from Thunder Bay, the nearest major city with supplies and services. RVs over 32 feet are accommodated at the park. The nearest airports are Thunder Bay International Airport (245 km) and Dryden Regional Airport (105 km). Highway 17 and 599 are standard two-lane roads with no major restrictions or steep grades.
June through August offer the warmest, most stable weather for RV camping, with daytime highs between 21-25°C (71-77°F) and minimal precipitation. July and August see peak activity with Discovery programs and events. May and early September are shoulder seasons with cooler temperatures (16-18°C / 62-65°F) but fewer crowds; note that the park closes after September 20. Swimming and water activities are best June through August when lake temperatures are warmest.

The park features a long, sandy beach with a gently sloping swimming area ideal for families, with marked buoys and lifeguard presence during peak season. Water temperatures are warmest in July and August.
A 4-kilometre moderate trail that showcases the park's natural and historical features through jack pine woods and wetlands. Rated highly on AllTrails with scenic views and manageable elevation gain.
A 160-kilometre backcountry route spanning 9-12 days that passes by several pictograph sites and pristine northern Ontario lakes. Canoe rentals and outfitting services are available at the park office.
