Spring, from March through May, brings warm days, blooming dogwoods, and excellent fishing for largemouth bass and crappie on Lake Marion. Fall, from late September through November, offers cooler temperatures, fewer bugs, and lighter campground traffic after the summer peak. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, and weekends fill quickly, so RV travelers should reserve sites well in advance. Winter stays are possible thanks to mild temperatures, though occasional cold snaps can freeze hookup lines.

Lake Marion is South Carolina's largest lake and one of the best freshwater fisheries in the Southeast. Anglers target largemouth bass, striped bass, crappie, bream, and catfish from the park's two fishing piers, the shoreline, or a boat launched at the park ramp.
Sinkhole Pond Nature Trail is a short interpretive loop that passes rare limestone sinkhole ponds formed by underground erosion. The flat, well-marked path is suitable for most abilities and features interpretive signs about Lowcountry ecology.
The Santee Bike and Hike Trail is a multi-use path running several miles through pine and hardwood forest within the park. It offers a flat, shaded ride or walk with trailhead parking large enough for tow vehicles.
Guided pontoon tours operate seasonally from the park, taking visitors into the flooded cypress forests and old river channels of Lake Marion. Tours highlight bald cypress groves, wading birds, and occasional alligator sightings.
The sheltered coves near the park are ideal for kayaks and canoes, with calm water and cypress-lined shoreline. Paddlers can launch from the boat ramp or designated shoreline access points and explore nearby creeks.
Cypress View Trail is a short lakeside walk that offers views of Lake Marion through stands of cypress and pine. It connects picnic areas and the campground, making it a convenient evening stroll for RV campers.
Lakefront picnic shelters and open grassy areas make the park a popular day-use destination. Common sightings include great blue herons, ospreys, woodpeckers, white-tailed deer, and turtles along the shoreline.
We had a great time renting this camper and taking it on a family trip to Jellystone Park. Richard had great communication throughout the trip and the camper had everything we needed. Would recommend this camper!

Great weekend glamping in Richard’s camper at JI County Park! The camper was in great condition, everything worked, and it had everything needed while away from home. Richard was great at communicating with me from beginning to end. He delivered the camper early and had it setup for our family to enjoy with nothing to do when we arrived. Nice full size fridge. Spacious bathroom. WiFi hotspot was handy. First time renting an RV and looking forward to doing it again!

Santee State Park, SC, United States
The park is located off Interstate 95 at Exit 98, roughly a 75-minute drive (about 65 miles) southeast of Columbia and about 1 hour 20 minutes (about 75 miles) northwest of Charleston. RV access from I-95 is straightforward on flat coastal-plain roads, with no mountain passes, tunnels, or steep grades to worry about, though low branches on some interior campground loops can be tight for taller rigs. The nearest major airports for fly-and-rent trips are Columbia Metropolitan (CAE) and Charleston International (CHS), each about an hour away.
