Late June through early September offers the warmest weather, open trails, and peak paddling and fly-fishing conditions on Noyes Pond. September and early October bring cool days, fewer bugs, and vivid fall foliage across Groton State Forest, making shoulder season especially rewarding for RV travelers. Winter transforms the area into a cross-country skiing and snowshoeing destination, though Vermont Route 232 and nearby campgrounds have seasonal closures. May and early June can be wet and buggy, so plan for black flies and mud-season road conditions.

Noyes Pond at Seyon Lodge is managed as a fly-fishing-only pond, stocked with brook trout and offering quiet, motor-free angling. Rental rowboats are available at the lodge, and a Vermont fishing license is required.
The 26-acre pond is open to non-motorized paddling, providing calm water for canoes and kayaks with views of surrounding forested hills. Wildlife sightings often include moose, loons, and great blue herons.
Trails from Seyon Lodge connect into the broader Groton State Forest network, including routes to Owl's Head Mountain and Big Deer Mountain. Expect rolling terrain, mixed hardwood forest, and pond overlooks.
Owl's Head is a short hike to a stone CCC-era summit shelter with panoramic views of Groton State Forest ponds and the surrounding hills. A seasonal auto road near New Discovery State Park reduces the hiking distance for most visitors.
The pond and bog habitats around Seyon Lodge support loons, warblers, waterfowl, and frequent moose sightings. Early morning paddles and pond-edge walks offer the best viewing opportunities.
In winter, Seyon Lodge serves as a base for groomed and ungroomed cross-country ski and snowshoe routes through Groton State Forest. The lodge remains open year-round, unlike the nearby campgrounds.
Nearby Stillwater, Ricker Pond, Big Deer, Kettle Pond, and New Discovery state parks offer swimming beaches, additional trails, and RV-friendly campgrounds. All are accessible from Vermont Route 232 within a short drive of Seyon Lodge.

Seyon Lodge State Park, VT, United States
Seyon Lodge sits off Seyon Pond Road, reached via Vermont Route 232 through Groton State Forest. It is roughly 20 miles (about 30 minutes) from Montpelier, 35 miles (about 50 minutes) from Barre-Montpelier, and around 70 miles (about 1.5 hours) from Burlington. RV drivers should note that Route 232 is a winding two-lane forest road with rolling grades and no truck stops, and the final access road to the lodge is a narrow gravel road that is tight for large motorhomes and trailers. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Burlington International Airport (BTV).
