July and August offer the warmest weather, the best swimming conditions, and the most reliable access to the beach, boat launch, and interpretive programs. The park operates at capacity from early July to Labour Day in early September, so expect crowds. Late June and early September are quieter shoulder-season options with cooler nights and fewer crowds, though beach conditions can vary. Depending on late spring or early summer rainfall, there may be limited beach area due to high water levels of the lake.

A long sandy and pebble beach is the centrepiece of the park. There is 1 km of sand and pebble beach, and a swimming area marked by buoys. RVers can park in the day-use lot and walk directly to the shore. bcparks.ca/shuswap-lake-park/
Copper Island sits just offshore and offers a rewarding hike for boaters. The island is located 1.3 kilometres offshore, has a 2.8 km hiking trail with beautiful views, and prohibits overnight camping, houseboats, and campfires. bcparks.ca/shuswap-lake-park/
The park has a full-service boat launch for RVers towing watercraft. There is a paved double boat launch with no size limit for vehicle-towed boats, located within the day-use area, with hours from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., no fee, and a large parking lot with no overnight storage. bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/shu_lk/index.html
Shuswap Lake is one of B.C.'s top interior fisheries. The lake supports 19 species of fish, including lake trout, rainbow trout, bull trout, kokanee, burbot, and whitefish. There are special regulations for Shuswap Lake, and anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence. bcparks.ca/shuswap-lake-park/
Paddlers can launch directly from the park's shoreline. Canoeing and kayaking are popular on the lake, but lake conditions can change quickly, so close attention to weather and wind is important because large waves can develop quickly. bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/shu_lk/index.html
The lake is a hub for motorized watersports. Shuswap Lake provides waterskiing opportunities, has no motor restrictions, and boats must have below-water exhaust to operate on the lake. bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/shu_lk/index.html
Clear interior lake water makes for fun underwater exploration. Snorkelling is a popular activity in Shuswap Lake. Note that swimmer's itch is present at times and can best be avoided by towelling off as soon as you leave the water, or by applying baby oil to your skin before you enter. bcparks.ca/explore/parkpgs/shu_lk/index.html
A network of gentle trails winds through the forested park. There are numerous walking and biking trails, with one self-interpretation trail in the park. E-bikes are restricted to park roads and areas where motorized use is permitted. bcparks.ca/shuswap-lake-park/
