Late June through early September is the prime window for RV travel, with warm days, open trails, and the full range of summer activities in operation. July and August are the busiest months, so reservations are recommended well in advance. September offers cooler nights, thinner crowds, and excellent fall colour on the surrounding hardwood slopes. Shoulder months in spring and late fall can be wet and muddy, and many park services wind down outside the summer season.

The climb to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain is the park's signature hike, delivering panoramic views over Campbellton, the Restigouche River, and the Quebec shoreline. The trail is short but steep and rocky, with a sustained climb to the exposed peak. Large RVs can park at the main day-use lot at the base.
The park operates a gravity bike park in summer with the chairlift carrying riders and bikes to the top of purpose-built downhill trails. Routes range from beginner flow lines to technical expert descents. Rentals and a pump track are available near the base area.
A network of groomed and natural trails loops the base of the mountain for walking, trail running, and cross-country skiing in winter. Most routes are rated easy to moderate and are family friendly. Trailheads are steps from the campground loop.
Sugarloaf is one of the few alpine ski areas in New Brunswick, with a chairlift, surface lifts, and a mix of groomed runs and glades serving the full vertical of the mountain. A terrain park and tubing park round out the winter operation. RV travel in winter requires four-season preparation.
The park includes a dedicated pump track and skills area used by families and clinics in summer. It is suitable for BMX, mountain bikes, and balance bikes. Parking for tow vehicles and small RVs is adjacent to the day-use area.
A full disc golf course winds through forested sections of the park, and tennis courts are available near the base facilities. Both activities are easy to fit into a camping day. Courts and course access are a short walk from most campsites.
Connecting trails from the park link into Campbellton's riverside pathway system along the Restigouche River. The route is paved or hard packed, flat, and well suited to casual cyclists and e-bikes. Riders can pedal from the campground into town for food and services.
Le fonctionnement a été super bien expliqué avant le départ. Stéphane a toujours été dispo pour toutes nos questions durant le voyage. Le VR était très propre et très bien équipé.

Sugarloaf Provincial Park, NB, Canada
The park sits on the southern edge of Campbellton, roughly a 3.5 to 4 hour drive north of Moncton via Route 11 and about 3 hours east of Quebec's Gaspé gateway at Matapédia. Fredericton is approximately 4.5 hours away by highway. RV drivers should be aware that Route 11 and Route 17 include long rural stretches with limited fuel and services, and the approach through the Appalachian foothills involves rolling grades, so plan fuel stops and check brakes before descents. The nearest regional airport for fly-and-rent trips is Bathurst Regional Airport, about 1.5 hours southeast, with larger options in Moncton and Quebec City.
