Late April through early June and September through October are the most comfortable months for RV travel, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and fewer crowds than peak summer. July and August bring hot, humid weather but the best lake swimming and water-sports conditions. Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day weekends fill up early, so book sites well in advance. Winter is mild but breezy, with some campground loops and services running on reduced hours.

Lake Tenkiller is a clear-water reservoir popular for boating, water skiing, and fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, walleye, and catfish. Two on-park marinas and multiple boat ramps make launching easy from RV-friendly parking lots.
Tenkiller is one of Oklahoma's premier freshwater dive sites thanks to its unusually clear water and submerged features. Dive operators near the park offer rentals and instruction, and shoreline access points have parking suitable for tow vehicles.
Short woodland trails within the park lead to elevated views of Lake Tenkiller and the surrounding Cookson Hills. Trailhead parking areas accommodate trucks and smaller RVs.
The park's nature center features exhibits on local wildlife, geology, and the Illinois River watershed, plus seasonal naturalist programs. Parking near the center accommodates standard vehicles and tow rigs.
Designated swim beaches and shaded picnic areas line the southern shore, with restrooms and pavilions nearby. RV-accessible day-use lots make these spots easy stops between campground stays.
Several short, rolling trails connect campgrounds to limestone bluffs and quiet coves along the lake. Routes are mostly natural surface with some rocky sections and modest elevation change.
Just below Tenkiller Dam, the Lower Illinois River is a stocked year-round trout fishery, drawing anglers for rainbow and brown trout. Public access points near the dam include gravel pull-offs and parking that can fit smaller RVs and trucks with trailers.
Communication was exceptional throughout the entire process. They were easy to reach, consistently responsive, and answered any questions promptly. Their professionalism and timely communication made everything simple, seamless, and completely stress-free.

It was wonderful having an RV parked in our sister's drive. It allowed us to visit with our family just a few steps away! Steve was very fast to respond to questions or concerns!!

Tenkiller State Park, OK, United States
The park lies about 25 miles south of Tahlequah and roughly 75 miles southeast of Tulsa, a drive of about 1 hour 30 minutes via US-62 and OK-82. From Fort Smith, Arkansas it is about 60 miles, around 1 hour 15 minutes. Access roads are paved two-lane highways with rolling hills and some steep grades near the lake, so trailers and large motorhomes should watch curves and use lower gears on descents. Tulsa International Airport is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers.
