Late May through early October is the prime window, when the campground, swimming pool, paddle rentals, and mini golf are typically open and daytime highs sit comfortably in the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit. July and August are warmest and busiest, especially on weekends, so reserve sites well in advance. Early summer and September offer milder weather, fewer crowds, and easier site selection, while October brings strong fall color in the hardwoods but cooler nights and reduced services.

The lake is the centerpiece of the park's day-use area and is open to fishing for bass, bluegill, catfish, and stocked trout. Non-motorized boats and seasonal paddle craft rentals make it easy for campers to spend an afternoon on the water.
A network of short to moderate hiking trails winds through hardwood forest along ravines and creeks within the park. Routes link the campground, lake, and picnic areas, so RVers can step out of their site and onto a trail without driving.
The park operates a seasonal outdoor swimming pool with a separate wading area, popular with families during summer. It is open from late spring through Labor Day weekend and is within walking distance of the campground.
An on-site miniature golf course offers a low-key family activity steps from the day-use parking lot. Clubs and balls are typically available at the park office during the summer season.
Several picnic areas and reservable shelters are scattered through the park, set among shade trees near the lake and recreation hub. Most areas have nearby paved parking that can accommodate tow vehicles and shorter RVs.
The park's namesake stream runs through wooded valleys and is stocked with trout in spring. A valid West Virginia fishing license is required, and several pull-offs along park roads provide easy access for anglers.

Tomlinson Run State Park, WV, United States
Tomlinson Run sits in West Virginia's northern panhandle off State Route 8, roughly a 45 to 60 minute drive from downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, about 30 minutes north of Weirton, WV, and about 25 minutes from Steubenville, Ohio. From Pittsburgh, most RVers take US 22 west and then SR 2 north along the Ohio River before turning inland; this route avoids the steepest urban grades and tunnels. The final approach to the park is on rural two-lane roads with some rolling hills and tight turns, so larger Class A motorhomes and long fifth wheels should take it slow. Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, about 50 miles away.
