Late May through early September is the most popular window, when the swim beach, trout fishing, and full campground services are active. June and July bring warm days ideal for water recreation, though weekends fill quickly with Omaha-area visitors. Early fall, from mid-September into October, offers cooler nights, thinner crowds, and good shoulder-season RV conditions. Winter visits are quieter and focused on day use, as most water amenities close.

Two Rivers features a chain of sandpit lakes stocked with bass, bluegill, catfish, and other warmwater species. Paved access roads and gravel parking areas make it easy to reach shoreline spots with an RV in tow.
A dedicated trout lake is stocked with rainbow trout and opens for fishing on a seasonal schedule. It is one of the closest trout opportunities to the Omaha metro and draws steady crowds on spring and fall weekends.
A designated swim lake with a sandy beach provides a cool-down option during hot summer days. Picnic shelters and large parking areas accommodate family groups traveling with RVs.
The park is known for retired Union Pacific cabooses converted into overnight lodging units. Even day visitors enjoy walking the caboose loop to photograph the unique railroad display.
The park sits at the confluence of the Platte and Elkhorn rivers, offering flatwater canoe and kayak access during normal flow conditions. Launch points are within a short drive of the campground loops.
The mix of river corridor, wetlands, and lake habitat attracts herons, waterfowl, bald eagles in winter, and white-tailed deer. Early morning walks along the park roads are the easiest way to spot wildlife.
Multiple shaded picnic areas with tables, grills, and playground equipment are scattered around the lakes. Large paved pull-offs make it simple for RV travelers to stop for lunch without unhitching.
It's was wonderful. They took care of set up and break down, the delivery fee is very much worth it if you don't have a truck. This made the trip stress free. Cute and comfortable, they had everything you could ask for. I would recommend and book again! Great communication, easy to work with 5 stars across the board!

Two Rivers State Recreation Area, NE, United States
The park sits just off U.S. Highway 275 near Waterloo, about 20 miles west of downtown Omaha (roughly 30 minutes) and about 40 miles northeast of Lincoln (about 50 minutes). Access from Interstate 80 is straightforward via the Gretna or Waterloo exits, with flat paved roads and no mountain grades, tunnels, or low clearances to worry about for larger rigs. Watch for seasonal flooding advisories on low-lying roads near the Platte and Elkhorn rivers after heavy rain. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Eppley Airfield in Omaha, approximately 30 miles east of the park.
