How to get to Wellesley Island State Park

The park sits on Wellesley Island off Interstate 81 at Exit 51, reached via the Thousand Islands Bridge from the New York mainland. Watertown is roughly 30 miles south, Syracuse about 95 miles south, and Ottawa, Ontario, about 80 miles north across the border. RV drivers should be aware that the Thousand Islands Bridge is a high, two-lane span that can be windy, and cross-border travelers need valid passports plus RV propane and food declarations. The closest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is Syracuse Hancock International Airport, with Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International also an option for Canadian travelers.
