Side roads within the park, including Pine Lake Road, are hard-packed gravel suitable for RVs. All-weather access is maintained year-round, though winter driving requires caution. The nearest commercial airports are Fort Smith (with daily service to Yellowknife) and Fort McMurray (with connections from Calgary and Edmonton).
Late May through September offers the best conditions for RV camping when Pine Lake Campground is open with favorable weather and accessible roads. June through August provide the warmest temperatures, typically ranging from 13 to 24 degrees Celsius, ideal for paddling, swimming, and wildlife viewing. September marks the park's final weeks with cooler but still pleasant conditions and reduced crowds. Northern lights viewing peaks from October through March on clear, cold nights, with January and February offering over 85 percent success rates on clear evenings.
