This trip was amazing! It all started the day before we were supposed to pick up the RV, I was admitted into the hospital to have my appendix removed. Our hosts had a few days after we finished our original trip so they bumped it four days to accommodate our trip. We changed our plans but it worked out for the best. We traveled all around the south part of Nova Scotia, staying at The Ovens, Scallywags in Clare and then the last stop was at the campground at the Blomidon Lookoff. The RV was absolutely perfect from start to finish and for the size of it was very good on fuel. $465 for just over 1200km in a F-450, which is great fuel mileage. We normally go testing but tried this, our next testing camping trip will be horrible. Lol. We will feel spoiled. If you are considering this size of vehicle and this style of trip, this vehicle and host make the experience so much better! Book it while you can!

The rv was just the right size for our family of 5 to create a memorable trip. The rv is fully equipped, has plenty of power to climb and safely descend Cape Bretons Cabot trail and surroundings plus tons of little extras. We were actually impressed by the fuel consumption and handling of this rv. All being said, we agree with pretty much all the previous reviews. The host(s) were spot on and adaptive to our needs. Once again, no regrets going with RVezy.

No special RV endorsement, air brake ticket, or commercial licence is required for the motorhomes and travel trailers listed on RVezy. Visiting from overseas? Is my Colchester RV rental protected if something goes wrong?

Every RV rental in Colchester booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can roll out of Truro feeling confident. The protection plan covers eligible damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you select your coverage level at checkout (not the host), so you can pick the peace of mind that fits your budget. It provides meaningful financial protection for renters exploring the Cobequid Hills or Bay of Fundy coast. Pro tip: read the coverage summary at booking so you know your deductible before you hit Highway 102 toward Halifax.

What if I need to cancel my Colchester RV trip?

Booking is low-risk: RVezy (not individual hosts) sets the cancellation policy for every reservation, and there's a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, refunds depend on how far out your trip is. Because the policy is managed centrally by RVezy, you won't see different cancellation rules on individual listings. If your host ever cancels, you'll receive a refund or travel credit. If life happens before your Colchester RV trip, reach out to RVezy support and they'll walk you through your options.

Where are the best campgrounds near Colchester, NS?

Colchester County has many strong campground options, most welcoming RVs of all sizes. Top picks include Truro/Tidal Bore KOA Holiday in Upper Onslow (heated pool, pull-thrus, near the Tidal Bore viewing area), Hidden Hilltop Family Campground in Masstown (family activities and propane on-site), Scotia Pine Campground in Brookfield (about 15 minutes from Truro with full hookups), and nearby Five Islands Provincial Park for Bay of Fundy cliff views. When is the best time of year for an RV trip in Colchester, NS?

Late June through mid-September is the sweet spot for an RV trip in Colchester. Daytime highs typically sit between 22 and 26 C (72 to 79 F), nights are cool and comfortable, and most campgrounds are open. July and August are peak Tidal Bore rafting season on the Shubenacadie River, and September delivers warm days, fewer bugs, and the start of vibrant Acadian-forest fall colour. May and October are quieter and cheaper but bring cooler nights closer to 5 C, so book a rig with a working furnace. Pro tip: aim for a date close to a full or new moon to see the most dramatic Bay of Fundy tides.

What should I budget for fuel on a Colchester RV trip?

Fuel pricing in Nova Scotia is regulated weekly by the Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board, so prices are predictable at the pump. Expect Class B campervans to deliver roughly 18 to 22 mpg, Class C motorhomes 10 to 14 mpg, and Class A rigs 7 to 10 mpg. A typical 600 km Cabot Trail loop from Truro can burn roughly $150 to $250 in fuel depending on rig size and current prices. Pro tip: top up in Truro or Bible Hill before heading toward Cape Breton, stations get sparser past Antigonish, and the Cobequid Pass climb on Highway 104 will nudge your fuel use up.

How far ahead should I book a campground near Colchester?

For peak season (July to mid-August), book your Colchester-area campground 2 to 3 months ahead, especially for full-hookup sites at Truro/Tidal Bore KOA, Hidden Hilltop, and Scotia Pine. Provincial parks like Five Islands open reservations through the Parks Nova Scotia system starting in early spring for the whole season, and the popular ocean-view sites disappear quickly. Shoulder season (June, September) is more relaxed and you can often book just a week or two out. Pro tip: if Truro is full, look about 30 minutes west at Five Islands Provincial Park, the Bay of Fundy cliff views from your site are spectacular.

What are driving conditions like around Colchester?

Driving an RV around Colchester is refreshingly easy. Truro sits at the junction of Highway 102 (to Halifax) and Highway 104 (the Trans-Canada), both four-lane, wide-shouldered, and RV-friendly. The main thing to watch is the Cobequid Pass on Highway 104 between Truro and Amherst, a long uphill grade where lower gears help, and there's an electronic toll. Watch for moose-crossing signs at dawn and dusk, especially north of Wentworth. Winter trips need snow tires and cold-weather prep. Pro tip: check real-time conditions on 511 Nova Scotia before any longer Colchester drive.

Where can I dump tanks and fill water in Colchester County?

You've got plenty of options. Most full-service campgrounds in the area, including Truro/Tidal Bore KOA, Hidden Hilltop, and Scotia Pine, offer on-site dump stations and potable water fills, often free for guests and a small fee for non-guests. Five Islands Provincial Park also has a sani-dump. Most local campgrounds offer 30-amp service and many have 50-amp pull-thrus for bigger rigs. Pro tip: fill your fresh tank before leaving Truro, water at remote sites along the Bay of Fundy can be limited, and always dump grey after black to help flush the sewer hose cleaner.

Many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, BBQ, and camping chairs. What add-ons can I get with my Colchester RV rental?

Some hosts include unlimited kilometres while others use a daily allowance with a per-km overage rate (typically around $0.35 to $0.50), so check the mileage policy before booking. How do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?

It's straightforward and secure. When you book a campervan rental in Colchester or any RV on RVezy, you pay through the platform with a credit card, no cash changes hands with your host. A refundable security deposit (typically several hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the rig) is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after drop-off, assuming the RV comes back in the same shape it left. Choosing a higher protection plan at checkout can lower your out-of-pocket risk. Pro tip: do a quick walkaround video with your host at pickup and again at drop-off in Truro, it's the easiest way to keep your deposit return smooth.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-works

Can I rent an RV in Colchester in winter or shoulder season?

Yes, and it can be magical. Winter and shoulder-season rentals are available from select hosts around Truro and Bible Hill, perfect for Ski Wentworth (about 30 minutes north) or chasing the Northern Lights from a quiet Cobequid Hills site. Look for rigs with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, a propane furnace, and shore-power capability, then message the host to confirm cold-weather readiness. Daytime highs in Colchester sit near -2 C in January with crisp, sunny days. Pro tip: most provincial campgrounds close in mid-October, so book a private park with winter-friendly sites or arrange driveway camping with your host directly.
