Campgrounds near Monroe, Washington
Monroe sits in Snohomish County along U.S. Highway 2, roughly 30 miles northeast of Seattle and at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. The area places RV travelers within reach of the Skykomish, Snohomish, and Snoqualmie Rivers, plus the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Elevations near town stay low, generally between 60 and 500 feet, which keeps most private campgrounds open year-round.
Private RV parks dominate the immediate Monroe area. Thunderbird RV and Camping Resort sits close to town and offers year-round camping with tent sites, RV hookups, and cabin rentals. Cascades RV Resort and Lake Bronson Club Family Nudist Park provide additional options nearby, while Lake Pleasant RV Park and Tall Chief RV Resort give travelers full-hookup choices south and west of town.
Public camping requires a short drive. Wallace Falls State Park near Gold Bar is about 12 miles east on Highway 2 and offers five reservable cabins plus two walk-in tent sites. Forest Service campgrounds along the Mountain Loop Highway add primitive options, though many higher-elevation sites close annually due to snowfall.
Things to do near Monroe
Hiking is the headline draw. Wallace Falls State Park anchors the area with a 2.8-mile trail to a 265-foot, three-tiered waterfall and 12 miles of well-maintained trails reaching Wallace and Jay lakes. The middle viewpoint delivers panoramic views of the Skykomish River Valley and Olympic Mountains.
Rivers shape much of the recreation. The Skykomish and Snoqualmie carry seasonal salmon and steelhead runs, and Big Eddy, five miles east of Wallace Falls, offers river access with slower current for swimming, kayaking, and rafting. Climbers head 12 miles east to the Index Town Walls for granite routes rated from 5.6 to 5.14c.
For non-hiking days, the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe hosts events through the year, and Woodinville wine country sits a short drive southwest.

Summer is the obvious peak. July and August bring the warmest, driest weather, with daytime highs around the mid-70s Fahrenheit and the lowest monthly rainfall of the year. Demand follows: state-park campgrounds near Monroe typically fill on summer weekends, and the most popular sites book months ahead.
Spring and fall work as shoulder seasons. May and September offer mild conditions, lighter crowds, and a realistic chance at a walk-up site. Waterfalls run high in spring as snowmelt feeds the Wallace and Skykomish rivers. Fall brings color through the foothills, with November typically the wettest month of the year.
Winter is wet and overcast. Lowland private RV parks generally stay open, but many Forest Service campgrounds close due to snowfall, and Sno-Park permits are required at designated winter recreation sites. Wallace Falls cabins accept reservations year-round, while its two walk-in tent sites remain weather dependent.

How to book a campsite near Monroe
Private RV parks in the Monroe area, including Thunderbird RV and Camping Resort, Cascades RV Resort, Lake Pleasant RV Park, and Tall Chief RV Resort, take direct reservations through their own websites or phone lines. Hookup sites and big-rig spots book earliest for summer weekends and Evergreen State Fairgrounds event dates.
Washington State Parks uses a single reservation system at washington.goingtocamp.com or by calling 888-CAMPOUT. Campsite reservations can be made up to nine months in advance of the first date of a trip, and bookings can be made online until 2 p.m. on the arrival date. Wallace Falls cabins are reservable; its two walk-in tent sites are first come, first served.
A Discover Pass is required for day-use parking at Washington State Parks, but is not needed in the park where a camper is staying overnight.
What to expect on the ground
Cell reception varies. Coverage is strong in Monroe and along the Highway 2 corridor and weakens quickly in the foothills and along the Mountain Loop Highway. Plan downloads before leaving paved routes.
Expect rain. Monroe averages roughly 1,250 mm of precipitation per year, and shoulder-season trails can stay muddy through May. Wildfire restrictions may apply in late summer, so check burn bans before lighting fires. Cougar sightings have been recorded near Wallace Falls, and pets should stay leashed.
Washington State Parks cap stays at 10 nights in one park within a 30-day period during peak season. Roofed accommodations such as cabins and yurts require a minimum of two consecutive nights from May 15 to September 15, and on weekends in shoulder months.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Monroe%2C%20WashingtonWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Monroe?
Good news: a regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Monroe. There's no special RV endorsement or commercial driver's license required for any motorhome or travel trailer available on RVezy, even the larger Class A coaches. Approved drivers are generally 25 or older, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking, so the process is quick and paperless. Visiting from outside the US? Bring your home-country license, and an International Driving Permit is recommended if your license is not in English. First time renting an RV? Most guests are surprised how simple the licensing side really is, leaving you free to focus on packing snacks and picking a Cascade trailhead.

Yes, every RV rental in Monroe booked through RVezy comes with a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right into your booking. The protection plan covers most damage to the vehicle, giving you real peace of mind whether you're heading up Highway 2 toward Stevens Pass or down to Seattle. During checkout you choose the level of coverage that fits your trip, so you stay in control of how much protection you want (hosts do not pick this for you). Coverage levels and inclusions are clearly explained before you confirm, which removes the financial worry that holds many first-timers back. Pro tip: review the protection plan options before you book so you can budget confidently from day one.

Booking an RV in Monroe is low-risk thanks to RVezy's cancellation policy, which includes a full money-back grace period right after you book. After that window, your refund depends on how far out you are from your trip start date. Cancellation terms are set by RVezy, not by individual hosts, so you get the same fair process across every listing, and the policy is not displayed on individual listings. If a host needs to cancel, RVezy refunds your booking or provides travel credits so your trip is protected. Pro tip: book earlier rather than later so you have maximum flexibility and the widest selection of Monroe-area motorhomes still on the calendar.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Monroe RV trip?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental in Monroe is easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page and you'll see motorhomes and trailers from hosts who happily welcome dogs (and sometimes cats too). Most Monroe-area RVezy hosts charge a small pet fee (typically $25 to $75 per trip). Pro tip: message the host before booking to mention your pup's size, so they can confirm sleeping arrangements that work for everyone.
parks.wa.gov/489/Pets-in-ParksCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Monroe?
Yes, RV delivery in Monroe is one of the most popular add-ons on RVezy, especially for first-timers who'd rather skip the drive entirely. Filter for Delivery on the search page and you'll find local hosts who will tow or drive the RV to your campsite, driveway, or vacation rental, then set up the slide-outs, hookups, and awning, and walk you through everything before they leave. Common delivery destinations from Monroe include Thunderbird RV Resort on Ben Howard Road, Flowing Lake County Park, and Wallace Falls State Park area stays. Delivery fees typically run a flat trip fee plus a per-mile rate set by the host. Pro tip: combine delivery with a stationary campsite booking and you've got a turnkey Monroe RV trip with zero driving stress.

Each is doable as a long weekend. Pro tip: filter for unlimited mileage if you're planning a true loop trip, and confirm the daily cap with your host before booking.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/roads-bridges/mountain-pass-conditionsWhere are the best campgrounds near Monroe to park my RV?
Monroe sits in a sweet spot for RV camping, with great options minutes from downtown. Thunderbird RV and Camping Resort on Ben Howard Road offers full-hookup sites along the Skykomish River and welcomes larger rigs. Evergreen State Fairgrounds RV Park right in town offers water and electric sites and is a popular base during fair season. Flowing Lake County Park near Snohomish has wooded sites with water and electric plus a shared dump station. Wallace Falls State Park in Gold Bar offers walk-in and cabin options with stunning waterfall hikes nearby, though RV sites there are limited. Pro tip: the best campgrounds near Monroe book up fast for summer weekends, so reserve as soon as your RVezy booking is confirmed.
parks.wa.gov/289/Wallace-FallsWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Monroe?
July through early September is the sweet spot for a Monroe RV trip, when daytime highs typically sit in the mid 70s to low 80s, rainfall drops to its lowest levels of the year, and mountain passes are clear of snow. Late June and mid-September are quieter shoulder seasons with great rates and still-pleasant weather in the upper 60s. Late fall through early spring brings the famous Pacific Northwest rain, with November typically the wettest month, but winter RV camping near Monroe can be magical if your rental is winterized for Cascade snow-play trips to Stevens Pass. Pro tip: late August lines up perfectly with the Evergreen State Fair, one of Washington's biggest summer events held right in Monroe.
weather.gov/sew/I've never driven an RV before. Is renting in Monroe a good idea for a first-timer?
Absolutely, Monroe is one of the friendlier spots in western Washington for first time renting an RV. The town sits on Highway 2 with wide lanes and easy pull-outs, traffic is manageable compared to Seattle, and most local destinations (Wallace Falls, Flowing Lake, Lake Stevens) are short, low-stress drives. Every RVezy host gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup covering the propane, water systems, slide-outs, dump procedure, and driving tips specific to their rig. You can also message hosts before you book to ask anything. Nervous about driving? Choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental in Monroe, or simply book delivery so the RV arrives ready to go. Pro tip: do a slow lap of the Evergreen State Fairgrounds parking lot before hitting Highway 2 to build confidence.
wsdot.wa.gov/travelWhat if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You're covered 24/7. Every RV rental in Monroe booked through RVezy includes round-the-clock roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so if you get a flat on Highway 2, a battery issue at Flowing Lake, or a slide-out that won't retract at Thunderbird Resort, help is one phone call away. Your host is also your first text-message lifeline for quirks specific to their rig (they know it best). RVezy's customer support team is available before, during, and after your trip. Pro tip: save both your host's number and the RVezy support line in your phone before you leave Monroe, and snap a photo of the RV's VIN and license plate just in case.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I drive my Monroe RV rental into Canada or other states?
Cross-border and interstate travel is often possible, but you'll want to confirm with your specific host before booking. Many RVezy hosts in Monroe approve trips into British Columbia (Vancouver is only about 140 miles north via I-5 and the Peace Arch border crossing) as well as Oregon, Idaho, and beyond. Travel to Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance coverage doesn't extend there. For Canada trips, you'll need a passport for every traveler and should let the host know your route so they can confirm coverage. Pro tip: popular cross-border itineraries from Monroe include Vancouver and Whistler in BC, or a southern loop through Mount Hood and the Oregon coast. Message hosts directly from the listing page to get the green light.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on a Monroe RV road trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost on a Monroe RV trip, but it's easy to plan for. Travel trailers don't burn extra gas beyond your tow vehicle's normal rate, campervans get 18 to 22 miles per gallon, Class C motorhomes average 10 to 14 MPG, and larger Class A coaches run 7 to 10 MPG. Washington gas prices are typically among the highest in the country, so check current rates before you go. A typical 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C will run roughly $90 to $130 in fuel at recent prices. Pro tip: fill up in Monroe before heading up to Stevens Pass, where mountain station prices climb noticeably.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Monroe?
For peak summer weekends (mid-June through Labor Day), book your campground 4 to 6 months ahead, especially for Washington State Parks. Wallace Falls, Lake Easton, and Deception Pass reservations open on a 9-month rolling window through the Washington State Parks reservation system. Snohomish County Parks (including Flowing Lake) also open reservations months in advance. Private parks like Thunderbird RV Resort take direct reservations and tend to fill 2 to 3 months ahead for weekends. Midweek and shoulder-season stays are often bookable just days out. Pro tip: if your top pick is full, set a calendar reminder to check back 7 days before your dates, when cancellations commonly free up sites near Monroe.
washington.goingtocamp.com/What are driving conditions like around Monroe?
Driving an RV around Monroe is refreshingly manageable. Highway 2 through town has wide lanes and good shoulders, and most surrounding roads (522, 203, and 9) are well-maintained two-lane highways with plenty of pull-outs. The big consideration is Stevens Pass at 4,061 feet east of town: it's gorgeous in summer but requires traction tires or chains during the winter season, and the Washington State Department of Transportation sometimes requires chains during heavy snow events. Avoid driving an RV into downtown Seattle if you can (low bridges and tight streets), and skip Highway 2 east of Gold Bar on Sunday evenings when ski and weekend traffic backs up. Pro tip: check WSDOT's mountain pass page before any Cascade-bound trip from Monroe.
wsdot.wa.gov/travel/roads-bridges/mountain-pass-conditions/stevens-pass-us-2What amenities will I find at campgrounds near Monroe?
Most campgrounds near Monroe are well-equipped for a comfortable RV stay. Full-hookup parks like Thunderbird RV Resort offer 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, Wi-Fi, and laundry. Washington State Parks like Wallace Falls offer limited utility hookups and provide central dump stations instead of in-site sewer. Snohomish County's Flowing Lake Park has water and electric with a shared dump station. For fresh water fills and dumping between trips, look for sanitary dump stations in the Monroe and Snohomish area. Pro tip: most Monroe-area campgrounds have firewood for sale on-site, but burn bans are common in late summer, so check the latest fire restrictions before lighting up.
parks.wa.gov/289/Wallace-FallsWhat's included inside a typical Monroe RV rental?
Monroe RVezy rentals are essentially apartments on wheels. Expect a queen or king bed in the main bedroom, additional sleeping for 2 to 6 people via convertible dinettes and bunks, a full kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, three-burner stove, microwave, and sink, plus a bathroom with toilet and shower. Most Class C and Class A motorhomes near Monroe include a flat-screen TV, roof and dash air conditioning, a propane furnace (helpful for cool Cascade nights), and DOT-approved seatbelts for safe travel. Many hosts add generators, solar setups, outdoor speakers, and even Starlink Wi-Fi as extras. Each listing's amenity list spells out exactly what's included. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count and amenities like Wi-Fi or generator to match the rig to your family RV trip in Monroe.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Monroe%2C%20WashingtonWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect when I rent an RV in Monroe?
Monroe hosts offer a great mix of add-ons to customize your motorhome rental in Monroe. Popular extras include linen and towel packages ($25 to $75), kitchen kits, camp chairs and tables, portable BBQs, generators, bike racks, kids' bedding, and even stocked pantry kits. Pickup typically happens at the host's home in or around Monroe, with most allowing a 1 to 2 hour pickup window for the walkthrough. Mileage policies vary: many hosts include 100 to 150 miles per day with overage at $0.30 to $0.45 per mile, while some advertise unlimited mileage for longer trips. Generator hours often include a few free hours per day. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen package for the most hands-off Monroe RV experience possible.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Monroe%2C%20WashingtonHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is handled securely through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash or a check to a host. You'll pay your trip total (rental, fees, protection plan, and any add-ons) by credit card at booking, with no surprise charges along the way. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment, typically as a pre-authorization on your card shortly before pickup, and is released after the RV is returned in good condition. To avoid any issues, do a quick walkthrough video with your host at pickup and again at drop-off. Pro tip: keep gas receipts and dump-station receipts handy when you return your Monroe RV rental, so any post-trip questions are answered in seconds.
