2015 Jeep WRANGLER
Grab this Jeep Wrangler Unlimited—this rugged beast with its removable doors and top, perfect for off-road adventures. You've got a rooftop tent for easy setup and take-down. Have had up to 4 people. 2 adults and 2 under 10.
Perfect for Quick Getaways (30–90 Minute Drive)
Ocala National Forest (45–90 minutes north) — The top spot for RTT and Jeep owners near Orlando. Over 600 square miles with dispersed/primitive camping allowed almost anywhere (park 100+ feet from roads/water, Leave No Trace). Many forest roads and OHV trails are Wrangler-friendly, including the Ocala North OHV Trail System and the Four Wheel Drive Way (Florida’s only Jeep Badge of Honor trail—stock-friendly sections). Highlights: crystal-clear springs (Juniper, Alexander), swimming, kayaking, hiking the Florida Trail. Developed campgrounds like Juniper Springs, Alexander Springs, or Clearwater Lake offer amenities if you want showers. Dispersed is free; developed sites are cheap and reservable. Great for boondocking with your RTT.
Wekiwa Springs State Park (about 45 minutes northwest) — Scenic springs for swimming, canoeing, and hiking. Drive-in tent/RV sites with restrooms/showers. RTT mounts fine on your Jeep in vehicle sites. Popular and book early.
Little Big Econ State Forest / Hal Scott Preserve (30–60 minutes east) — Primitive car-accessible camping, trails, and river views. Quiet and close for a quick escape.
Moss Park (about 30–45 minutes southeast, in Orange County) — County park with tent/RV sites right near Orlando. Good for a super short overnight test run.
1–2 Hour Drives (Great for 2–5 Night Trips with More Variety)
Lake Kissimmee State Park (about 1 hour south) — Open prairie, lakes, and hiking. Standard drive-in campsites plus glamping options if you want a break. Good for relaxed vibes with some off-road access nearby.
Citrus Wildlife Management Area / Inverness area (about 1.5 hours northwest) — Excellent Jeep/off-road trails with sugar sand, mud, and clay. Camping available at spots like Holder Mine. Mix of OHV fun and nature.
New Smyrna Beach or Canaveral National Seashore area (about 1–1.5 hours east) — Beach driving (where allowed) and coastal camping. Some spots accommodate vehicle-based RTT setups; check regulations for beach access. Pair with ocean time after forest camping.
Seminole State Forest (north of Orlando, ~1 hour) — Primitive camping and trails in a quieter setting.
These are just a few ideas.
