The RV itself was fine, but there were a few issues that made the experience stressful, especially for someone not very experienced with RVs. First, I didn’t realize the RV was parked in the host’s backyard, with a very narrow gate. It took me a long time to get the RV out, and when I returned it, the host insisted I back it in through the same narrow gate. I wasn’t unwilling, but I was worried about damaging the vehicle due to the tight space.
Also, the hot water system caused an alarm every time I tried to turn it on, so we had to shower at campsites throughout the trip. There was no thorough walkthrough or clear instruction when picking up the RV, which made it more difficult for a beginner.
Overall, if you’re new to RVs, I would not recommend renting from a private host without extensive guidance — otherwise, you might run into the same problems I did.
Since the last people we tried to rent from never showed up they were able to help us out last minute.
