Before heading on a tour of Chi-Town, you might want to consider the best ways to get into the city. Many of the best campgrounds in Chicago are an hour outside the city, and oversized parking near downtown is expensive and limited. Campers may want to consider leaving their motorhome at their RV park and use local bus and train services to navigate the city's congested streets.
Once you arrive in downtown Chicago, you'll want to head to Millenium Park, home to contemporary art installations, interactive fountains, and Mirror Gate, one of The Windy City's most recognizable landmarks. For the best views of Chicago, take the elevator up to Willis Tower's Skydeck, a 1,353 foot-tall observation point with glass-floored balconies. Chicago is also home to one of the best art museums in the country, like The Art Institute of Chicago. The museum boasts some famous paintings by European and American artists, such as A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by George Seurat and American Gothic by Grant Wood. Sports fans in your group? Nothing says family outing like an afternoon baseball game at Wrigley Field.
Campers who'd prefer to spend their days exploring the shores of Lake Michigan should head to Illinois Beach State Park. Covering over 4,000 acres of beaches, marshes, and woodlands on the edge of Lake Michigan, Illinois Beach State Park provides some of the best water sports opportunities in the state. Take a lakeside stroll along the park's 6.5-mile beach or bring along your fishing pole and catch trout, salmon, and catfish at Sand Pond.
Four days. Eight stages. Over 170 artists lighting up Grant Park in the heart of Chicago. Lollapalooza is more than a music festival; it is a summer experience you carry with you long after the last note fades. Rent an RV and arrive as your own home base, with everything you need just steps from the city's best festival energy.
View event detailsFeel the bass roll across the bowl as the sun drops over the water. Country Thunder Wisconsin brings national country acts to Twin Lakes for a long summer weekend of music, camping culture, and friends you have not met yet. Roll in with an RV and turn the festival into a full vacation: your kitchen for midnight snacks, a quiet place to recharge between sets, and the freedom to explore Lake Geneva country when you want a slower morning.
View event detailsWonderful across the board. The RV was clean, drove perfectly (mountains of Colorado and New Mexico), and was impeccably organized. They have clearly thought through all the things that might be needed on a long trip and made them easily accessible. The toilet cassette was easy to empty (particularly in a latrine -- 3-5 minutes with no mess). The refrigerator and cabinets have plenty of space and beds were comfortable. It was easy to stop and sleep overnight in parks. We were really pleased and would happily rent this RV again.

John was very helpful, organized and onto of all things with his van and the rental.

This is a first in class B vehicle. Tons of toys within the toy. My family loved all the room and comfort inside while I loved the way a large rv handled on the highway. The owner spent extra time to go over everything and help explain all the capabilities of the vehicle. Also was fun watching so many heads turn when we drove into town. We felt like celebrities!
