Best time to visit Aloha State Park

Late June through August offers the warmest weather, the warmest lake temperatures for swimming, and full campground services, making it the peak window for RV travel. September is an excellent shoulder-season choice with cooler nights, fewer crowds, and early fall color along the lake. May and early June can be cool and buggy but reservations are easier to secure. The modern campground typically operates seasonally from spring through late fall and is not a winter destination for RVs.

The park has a paved boat launch directly on Mullett Lake, one of Michigan's largest inland lakes. The launch parking accommodates vehicles with trailers, and the lake connects to the Inland Waterway route toward Indian River and Burt Lake.

  • Fishing from the pier or shoreline Easy

Aloha is a well-known fishing destination for walleye, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and northern pike. Anglers can fish from the accessible pier, the shoreline, or by boat from the on-site launch.

  • Picnicking in the day-use area Easy
    RV parking available

A shaded day-use picnic area with tables and grills overlooks Mullett Lake. It is well suited to family meals between swims and is accessible via paved roads inside the park.

  • Cycling the North Eastern State Trail Easy

The crushed-limestone North Eastern State Trail runs nearby between Cheboygan and Alpena and is open to bikes and walkers. RV travelers can stage at the park and drive a short distance to a trailhead with parking.

  • Day trip to Mackinaw City and the Straits of Mackinac Easy

Mackinaw City sits about 25 miles north of the park and offers ferry access to Mackinac Island, Colonial Michilimackinac, and views of the Mackinac Bridge. It is an easy day trip by tow vehicle from a campsite at Aloha.

  • Wildlife watching and birding Easy
    RV parking available

The lakeshore, marshy edges, and open grassy areas attract waterfowl, songbirds, and bald eagles. Early morning walks along the campground and day-use roads are the simplest way to spot wildlife.

Karen and Michael were great to work with and communicating with them was easy and their response time was excellent! Highly recommend renting from them.

Karen and Mike were wonderful. This was the first time we rented an RV and it worked out well for our camp trip as it was cool and rainy. If we ever find ourselves in need of an RV for our family camp trips, we will definitely see if their RV is available.
