Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable windows for RV travel, with mild temperatures, wildflowers in May, and the annual bison roundup drawing crowds in autumn. Summer brings hot, dry days and strong sun with very little shade, so early starts and full water tanks are essential. Winter visits are quieter and snow is usually light at lake level, but wind can be severe and amenities are reduced. Biting brine flies and no-see-ums can be intense around the lakeshore in midsummer, making breezy days more pleasant.

Buffalo Point is a short uphill hike to a panoramic overlook of the Great Salt Lake, Bridger Bay, and the Wasatch Front. The trailhead has a large paved parking area that easily handles RVs and tow vehicles.
Fielding Garr Ranch is a historic ranch complex on the east side of the island, reached by a paved road that crosses classic bison country. The site includes original ranch buildings, interpretive exhibits, and wide parking suitable for motorhomes and trailers.
Bridger Bay Beach is the main swimming and paddling area on the island, with a gentle sandy entry into the salty lake water. Day-use parking is close to Bridger Bay Campground, making it an easy walk from RV sites.
Frary Peak is the highest point on Antelope Island and delivers the best summit views on the Great Salt Lake. The trail is long and exposed with significant elevation gain, so start early in summer and carry plenty of water.
The White Rock Bay Loop is a rolling multi-use trail through sagebrush grassland where bison, pronghorn, and bighorn sheep are commonly seen. Hikers, runners, and mountain bikers share the route, which begins near the group campground.
The Lakeside Trail is a mostly flat path connecting the marina, Bridger Bay, and White Rock Bay areas, ideal for casual rides from a campsite. It offers broad lake views and minimal elevation change, good for families traveling with bikes in an RV.
A self-guided drive along the island's paved roads passes prime habitat for the park's free-roaming bison herd, pronghorn, and mule deer. Pullouts are sized for passenger vehicles and RVs, making wildlife viewing straightforward without leaving the rig.
Boots was a wonderful rental van and it was a perfect option for our trip. Jaden was very communicative and helpful with any/all questions we had. Would rent again if our travels bring us out this way!

Antelope Island State Park, UT, United States
From Salt Lake City, the drive is roughly 40 miles north via I-15 to Exit 332 in Syracuse, then west on Antelope Drive across the causeway, about 45 to 60 minutes for most RVs. Ogden sits about 25 miles to the northeast and is a common staging point for fuel and groceries. The causeway is flat and paved with no tunnels or steep grades, but it is fully exposed to crosswinds off the Great Salt Lake, so high-profile motorhomes and travel trailers should watch forecasts. Salt Lake City International Airport is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent trips, about an hour from the park entrance.
