Late June through August offers the warmest weather and the best conditions for swimming, boating and fishing on Charlie Lake. July and August are peak season, so reservations are strongly recommended for RV sites. Shoulder months of May, early June and September bring fewer crowds and cooler nights, with water taps shut off outside the operating season. The park is a year-round recreational facility that also offers excellent winter recreation opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, though the campground itself operates seasonally.

The park offers over 15 kilometres of groomed cross-country ski trails designed for beginner, intermediate and advancing skiers, with trail maps posted at the trailhead and major junctions. Beatton Provincial Park, BC, Canada
The park is located 13 km northwest of Fort St. John off Highway 97 on the 244 road, approximately a 20 minute drive. From Dawson Creek at the start of the Alaska Highway, the drive is roughly 90 km north, about one hour. The route uses paved highway with no tunnels or significant mountain passes, making it straightforward for larger RVs, though drivers should watch for frost heaves and wildlife on Highway 97. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is North Peace Regional Airport in Fort St. John.
