Late spring through early fall, roughly May to October, is the best window for RV travel to Beech Fork, when the campground, pool, and marina are in full swing and lake temperatures support swimming and paddling. June through August brings warm, humid weather and the largest crowds, so reservations are important. Shoulder months such as May, September, and October offer cooler nights, thinner crowds, and vivid fall foliage across the surrounding hardwood forest. Winter visits are quiet with reduced services and possible campground closures.

Beech Fork Lake is a no-wake reservoir at the heart of the park and is ideal for pontoons, kayaks, canoes, and small fishing boats. Seasonal boat rentals are available at the marina, and launch ramps serve private craft.
Beech Fork Lake is a popular fishery for largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, channel catfish, and muskellunge. A valid West Virginia fishing license is required, and shoreline, pier, and boat fishing are all possible.
The park has a network of hiking trails winding through oak, hickory, and beech forest above the lake. Routes range from short interpretive walks to longer loops with moderate climbs and ridge views.
A seasonal outdoor swimming pool operates near the main campground during the summer months. It provides a refreshing option for families on hot afternoons when the lake is reserved for boating.
Shaded picnic shelters and tables are scattered across the park near the lake and trailheads. Several areas accommodate larger groups and are reservable in advance.
The park's mix of forest edge, lake shoreline, and wetland habitat supports white-tailed deer, wild turkey, waterfowl, and a wide range of songbirds. Early morning and dusk along quiet trails and coves offer the best sightings.
The park offers additional family-friendly amenities including playgrounds, open recreation fields, and a disc golf course near the main campground area. These options pair well with a multi-night RV stay.

Beech Fork State Park, WV, United States
The park sits about 15 to 20 miles south of Huntington, West Virginia, roughly a 30 to 40 minute drive via I-64 and WV Route 152 through Lavalette. Charleston, WV is about 70 miles east (around 90 minutes), and Ashland, KY is roughly 30 miles west. The nearest commercial airport for fly-and-rent trips is Huntington Tri-State Airport (HTS). RV drivers should note that the final access roads are winding, two-lane rural routes with some steep grades and tight curves typical of Appalachian terrain, so plan extra time and drive cautiously in larger rigs.
