The Equestrian Campground at Carter Caves State Resort Park sits in the forested hills of Olive Hill, Kentucky, offering eight pull-through sites purpose-built for horse owners. Each site includes electric, water, and sewer hookups (50-amp available), hitching posts for up to four horses, a picnic table, lantern hanger, and fire ring/grill combo. Campers also have access to bathhouses with showers, a laundry area, and a playground. The park is pet-friendly and big-rig friendly, with pull-through sites to accommodate large rigs and horse trailers. Surrounding the campground, more than 20 miles of multi-use trails wind through the landscape, including the Kiser Hollow Trail and Cave Branch Loop Trail, open to horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking. Below the surface, over 20 natural caverns weave through the hills — Cascade Cave and X-Cave offer guided tours, with Cascade Cave featuring a dramatic 30-foot underground waterfall. Located in Carter County in northeastern Kentucky near Grayson and Morehead, Carter Caves State Resort Park combines equestrian access, cave exploration, and scenic Appalachian woodland in one destination.
