Best time to visit Biscayne National Park

Late November through April offers the most comfortable conditions for RV travel, with lower humidity, cooler nights, calmer seas for boating, and fewer mosquitoes. This is also the busiest season at the Dante Fascell Visitor Center, so arrive early for parking and programs. Shoulder months of May and October bring warm water and thinner crowds but also rising heat, afternoon thunderstorms, and an active Atlantic hurricane season. Summer visits are possible but hot, buggy, and subject to tropical weather that can close the bay to boating.

How to get to Biscayne National Park

The Dante Fascell Visitor Center at Convoy Point is about 9 miles east of Homestead, Florida, and roughly a 45 to 60 minute drive south of downtown Miami via the Florida Turnpike or US-1. From Florida City, follow SW 328th Street (North Canal Drive) east to the park entrance. Access roads are flat, sea-level, and RV friendly with no tunnels, mountain passes, or steep grades, though low clearances and tight turns can occur in older neighborhoods, so stick to the signed truck routes. Miami International Airport (MIA) is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, about 35 to 45 miles north of the park.
