This was my 1st time renting an RV. Cathy and Jose were fantastic to work with. From explaining the overall process to an “orientation meeting”, they were so helpful. Weather and traffic delayed my return by a couple of hours. Communication remained open and all was fine. Excellent vehicle and even better support where needed. We’ll definitely keep Cathy and Jose in mind for our next adventure 😉

Everything worked perfectly! Moises is a great host, he responded to all my questions and calls and even provided his personal camping app, which is a great find if you are into off grid cool safe camping spots to discover. It's not fancy on the outside, but the price is good and all the features are functional.

Frequently asked questions about renting an RV in Florida

What does it cost to rent an RV in Florida, and how can I save on my trip?

RV rentals in Florida start around $75 per night for a travel trailer and $120–$250 per night for motorhomes, with prices rising during peak winter and spring months. To find a cheap RV rental in Florida, book early for the best selection, filter by price, or look for special rates in summer and late fall (when the crowds thin out and the beaches are just as beautiful). Many hosts offer weekly or monthly discounts, and off-season deals abound. Florida's mix of state parks and private campgrounds also makes it easy to find affordable campsites close to top attractions.

What driver’s license or permit do I need for an RV rental in Florida?

Good news: your regular, valid driver’s license is all you need for most RV rentals in Florida, no special class or commercial license required! Just be sure you’re 25 or older before you book with RVezy. International visitors will want to grab an International Driving Permit (IDP) from their home country. Verification is all handled online, and you’ll be ready to hit the Florida roads from Miami to the Panhandle with confidence.

What protection and support come with my RV rental in Florida?

Every RV rental in Florida through RVezy automatically includes a protection package, you choose your level of coverage to match your trip style. Absolutely! Pet-friendly RV rentals in Florida are easy to find with RVezy, just use the “Pet-Friendly” filter to see listings where your dog or cat is welcome. From Gulf Coast beaches to state parks like Anastasia, Florida’s campgrounds are famously pet-friendly. Pro tip: Many state parks ask you to keep pets leashed and off swimming beaches, but there are fantastic dog parks in spots like Fort De Soto near St. Petersburg.

Can the RV be delivered and set up at my Florida campsite or home?

Yes, RV delivery in Florida is a breeze with RVezy. Many owners offer to deliver and set up your RV right at your campsite, festival, or even your driveway. Just use the “Delivery” filter while searching for rentals, pick your location, and the host will handle the hard work. This is especially convenient for first-time renters or travelers flying into Orlando, Tampa, or Miami, your Florida RV adventure starts where you are!

How far can I travel with my Florida RV rental? What are popular road trip routes?

Your RV rental in Florida makes iconic road trips a reality! Most hosts set daily mileage limits, but unlimited mileage options are available, just filter for “unlimited mileage” if you want ultimate freedom. Favorite RV road trip routes include Miami to Key West (about 160 miles), Orlando to St. Augustine (110 miles), and Tampa to the Everglades (230 miles). Always check your listing’s included miles as you plan your adventure.

Where can I park and camp with my RV in Florida? Are there great campgrounds nearby?

Florida’s state parks, like Bahia Honda in the Keys and Grayton Beach on the Panhandle, are RV favorites for beachfront views and hiking trails. Check out Fort Wilderness at Walt Disney World or Jetty Park Campground in Cape Canaveral for family fun. You can also find RV camping at national forests and many private resorts. Always reserve sites in advance on Florida State Parks’ official booking system for the best spots.

When is the best time to rent an RV in Florida?

Great news: Florida’s RV season is year-round! Winter is most popular, with temps in the 60s–70s°F (16–24°C) and low rain, perfect for escaping the cold. Summer brings afternoon thunderstorms and highs around 90°F (32°C), so plan for AC and early adventures. For fewer crowds and lower prices, try spring or late fall, you’ll find “shoulder season” deals along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts.

I’ve never rented an RV before. Is it difficult to drive or set up in Florida?

First time renting an RV in Florida? You’re in good hands. Every RVezy host walks you through your RV at pickup (or delivery), so you’ll know exactly how everything works, no guesswork required. Florida highways are generally flat and wide, making driving easier than most states. For extra reassurance, start your trip in a campground with easy pull-through sites, like Fort De Soto Park or Lion Country Safari KOA.

What if I have a mechanical issue during my RV trip in Florida?

Every RV rental in Florida booked through RVezy comes with 24/7 roadside assistance, so you’re never stranded, whether you’re camping at Jonathan Dickinson State Park or making a pit stop on I-75. If you need help, just call the support number in your booking and they’ll send help your way. It’s like having an expert on call anywhere in the Sunshine State!

Can I take my RV rental from Florida to other states?

Interstate RV trips are completely doable from Florida, many renters road trip north to Atlanta, New Orleans, or as far as the Blue Ridge Parkway! Just check your host’s travel radius and let them know if you’re planning to cross state lines. Travel to Mexico isn’t allowed, but trips into Georgia and Alabama are a top pick for adventurous families. Aim for a classic Florida to Savannah (4 hours) or Tampa to Nashville (10 hours) route.

How much should I budget for fuel on a Florida RV trip?

Fuel costs vary by RV type, but in most cases you’ll get 7–12 MPG in a motorhome, and 10–20 MPG in a campervan or with a towed trailer. As of early 2024, Florida gas prices average $3.20–$3.50 per gallon. Plan to fill up every 200–300 miles and consider routes with plenty of service stations, especially when road-tripping the Keys or Panhandle. Bonus: Florida’s flat highways help you save fuel compared to mountain states.

How far ahead should I reserve campgrounds for my Florida RV trip?

Florida’s best campgrounds fill up fast, especially from December to April. For spots like Bahia Honda State Park or Fort Wilderness, book as early as 11 months ahead via the Florida State Parks reservation portal. Mid-week and off-season trips have more last-minute availability. Pro tip: Some private parks near Orlando, Tampa, and Miami hold back sites for walk-ins even in peak season.

What local driving tips should I know for my Florida RV rental?

Florida’s roads are RV-friendly, most highways are flat, with generous clearance and wide lanes. Watch for summer downpours causing hydroplaning, and take it slow on causeways and bridges, especially in the Keys. In city areas like Miami and Orlando, heavy traffic is common, so plan to drive early or late. Delivery is a great option if you want to skip city driving and start your vacation at the campground.

What hookups and amenities should I expect at Florida campgrounds?

Most RV campgrounds in Florida offer electric, water, and sewer hookups at your site, as well as dump stations (required by state law for waste). State parks typically offer 30/50-amp power, picnic tables, and bathhouses, perfect for families. Oceanfront parks might have limited hookups, so check ahead if you need full service. There are easy dump stations and water fill-ups at most rest stops across the state.

What features do Florida RV rentals typically include?

Florida RV rentals commonly include comfy beds, full kitchens (stovetop, microwave, fridge), bathrooms with showers, A/C, and awnings for shade. Many have TVs, DVD players, Wi-Fi, and built-in generators for off-grid camping. Want extras like beach chairs, grills, or kayaks? Use the add-on filters to customize your rental. Every RV on RVezy comes with seatbelts for passengers, and you’ll know exactly what’s included before you book.

Can I book a campervan or motorhome rental in Florida for a festival or special event?

Absolutely! Want to camp out at Daytona 500, Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale, or Gasparilla in Tampa? Use the “Festival-Friendly” filter to find motorhome rentals in Florida that welcome event camping. Many hosts offer delivery straight to major festival grounds and can provide extra gear to make your stay easy. Just plan ahead, event weekends are popular, so book early for the best selection.

How does security deposit and payment work for a Florida RV rental?

Booking your Florida RV rental is secure and easy on RVezy. You can pay in full at booking or, if you book more than 37 days ahead, pay 25% to confirm and the remaining 75% 37 days before departure. A refundable security deposit is authorized on your card three days before your trip starts and is released 7 days after the trip ends (unless a claim is submitted). The deposit covers potential damage or extra cleaning, but you get it back in full if everything checks out. All payments are handled online, so you can choose your RV and get ready for your trip.
