Winter is peak season for RV travelers escaping colder states, so campsite reservations fill quickly. Shoulder months like October and May offer fewer crowds but warmer afternoons and more thunderstorm activity. Hobe Mountain is an ancient sand dune topped by a wooden observation tower offering panoramic views of the park's scrub forest and the Atlantic Ocean. A short boardwalk climb from a trailhead parking area makes it one of the easiest highlights to reach in an RV-friendly day.
The Loxahatchee is Florida's first federally designated Wild and Scenic River and flows through the heart of the park. Visitors can launch kayaks and canoes at the Kimbell Center area to paddle through cypress swamp and mangrove reaches.
Guided river tours travel upriver to Trapper Nelson's preserved 1930s homestead, once known as the Wildman of the Loxahatchee. The ranger-led walking tour of the site is flat and family friendly.
Kitching Creek Trail is a flat loop through pine flatwoods and along a blackwater creek within the park's interior. It's a good short hike for wildlife watching, including deer, gopher tortoises, and woodpeckers.
The park maintains a network of off-road bike trails winding through sand pine scrub and pine flatwoods. Trails range from beginner-friendly loops to longer technical singletrack suitable for mountain bikes.
The Kimbell Center features indoor exhibits on the park's ecosystems, native wildlife, and the cultural history of the Loxahatchee region. It's an air-conditioned stop ideal for hot afternoons or rainy days.
Anglers can fish the Loxahatchee River and Kitching Creek for snook, bass, and other species from shoreline spots or small boats. A valid Florida fishing license is required, and regulations vary between fresh and brackish zones.
Built on the grounds of the former World War II Camp Murphy radar training base, this trail system offers miles of singletrack through scrub habitat. Interpretive signs describe the park's military history alongside the natural landscape.
Had a great weekend. RV was amazing and easy to operate. Owner was easy to get along with, and very accommodating. Definitely recommend.

We rented from Williams RV and had such a great experience. The RV was extremely clean and surprisingly easy to drive, which made our trip stress free and enjoyable. He was wonderful to work with from start to finish, very responsive and helpful. We are already looking forward to renting from him again in the future.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park, FL, United States
The park entrance sits on U.S. Highway 1 in Hobe Sound, about 15 minutes north of Jupiter and roughly 25 minutes south of Stuart. From I-95, most RVers exit at Bridge Road (Exit 96) in Hobe Sound and head east a few miles to U.S. 1, avoiding narrow back roads. There are no tunnels, mountain passes, or steep grades, and access is straightforward for large motorhomes and trailers. The closest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) in West Palm Beach, about 45 minutes south.
