Late June through August is the prime window for RV travel, with warm prairie days, long daylight hours, open beaches, and full campground services. July and early August bring the busiest weekends, so reservations are recommended well in advance. Shoulder months in May, early June, and September offer cooler nights, fewer bugs, and quieter sites, though some services may be reduced. Spring runoff and prairie thunderstorms can affect trail and road conditions, so check park updates before arriving.

The bison viewing area lets visitors observe the park's resident plains bison herd from a safe roadside pullout. A short drive and accessible viewing make it easy to fit in between campground activities. Keep a respectful distance and never enter the enclosure.
Nicolle Flats is a wetland area at the south end of the park with boardwalks and interpretive trails through cattail marsh and aspen bluffs. It's one of the best birding spots in the region, with pelicans, grebes, and songbirds commonly seen. Bring binoculars and bug spray in summer.
Buffalo Pound Lake offers a sandy day-use beach, a boat launch, and a marina area for paddling, motorboating, and fishing. The long, narrow reservoir in the Qu'Appelle Valley provides sheltered water ideal for family swimming and casual watersports. Walleye and northern pike are the most sought-after catches.
A network of park trails winds through aspen bluffs, grassland, and elm groves with viewpoints over the Qu'Appelle Valley and Buffalo Pound Lake. Expect rolling terrain with some steady climbs out of the valley bottom. Watch for deer, coyotes, and songbirds along the way.
Several shorter park trails climb out of the valley bottom to viewpoints over Buffalo Pound Lake and the surrounding grasslands. Expect some steady hills on the ascents and exposed sun on ridgelines. Carry water, especially on hot prairie afternoons.
Buffalo Pound Lake is a popular prairie fishery for walleye, northern pike, and yellow perch. Shore fishing is possible from several day-use areas, and the boat launch gives anglers access to deeper water. A Saskatchewan fishing licence is required.
The main day-use area features a sandy swimming beach, picnic sites, and playground facilities. It's a convenient base for families staying in the adjacent campground. Shade is limited, so bring sun protection for midday visits.
The RV was everything I had hoped for. The RV was in excellent working condition, was well stocked and clean. Communication was fantastic. I would book this RV again.

PERFECT!!! Mark and his wife were fantastic to meet and deal with. This was my first experience renting a trailer, they made it very simple and accommodating for my family. Trailer was beyond stocked with everything you could need for a camping trip. Everything worked perfectly and they had done some really nice upgrades just before we got it. Thanks guys for a great time.

Buffalo Pound Provincial Park, SK, Canada
The park sits in the Qu'Appelle Valley about 30 kilometres northeast of Moose Jaw (roughly a 30 to 40 minute drive) and about 75 kilometres northwest of Regina (roughly an hour by road), with access via Highway 202 off Highway 2. The approach roads descend into the valley and include some winding sections and moderate grades, so RV drivers should take these hills slowly and watch for wildlife, especially at dawn and dusk. There are no tunnels or mountain passes on the route, and provincial highways in this region are generally wide and RV friendly. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Regina International Airport, with Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport roughly a three hour drive to the north.
