Spring (March through May) and fall (October through November) are the most comfortable times for RV travel, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and excellent conditions for paddling the cypress sloughs. Summer brings hot, humid days and active mosquitoes, though it remains popular for fishing and swimming. Winter is mild and quiet, with good birdwatching for wintering waterfowl, but occasional cold fronts can bring freezing nights. Wildflowers peak in spring, and fall color in the hardwoods peaks in late October and early November.

Caddo Lake State Park, TX, United States
The park is about 15 miles northeast of Marshall, Texas via TX-43 and FM 2198, roughly 45 minutes from Longview and about 2.5 to 3 hours east of Dallas on I-20. Shreveport, Louisiana is around 45 minutes to the east. Roads into the park are rural two-lanes with low clearance hazards from overhanging trees on some side roads, so large Class A rigs should approach via the main FM 2198 entrance rather than narrow county roads. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Shreveport Regional Airport (SHV), with East Texas Regional Airport (GGG) in Longview as a smaller alternative.
