Late June through August is the prime window, when the Northumberland Strait reaches some of the warmest saltwater temperatures north of the Carolinas and the beach is fully staffed with lifeguards and canteen service. July and early August bring peak crowds, especially on weekends, so arriving before late morning helps secure parking. Early June and September offer quieter visits with mild days, though swimming supervision and services wind down after Labour Day. The park is a summer-only destination and is not maintained for off-season use.

The main draw is the long red-sand beach with shallow, warm saltwater and a supervised swimming area during the summer season. Gentle waves and a sandy bottom make it well suited to families with small children.
The tidal flats at Chelton Beach offer extensive beachcombing at low tide, with shells, sea glass, and sandbars exposed well out from shore. The flat terrain is accessible for all ages.
The park provides picnic tables and shaded areas near the dunes, and its west-facing orientation delivers sunset views over the Northumberland Strait toward New Brunswick. A canteen operates during peak season for snacks and cold drinks.
The tip-to-tip Confederation Trail, PEI's rail-trail network, passes within a short drive of Chelton Beach near Kensington and Borden-Carleton. The packed-stone surface is flat and family friendly.
The historic seaside village of Victoria-by-the-Sea lies about 20 km east of Chelton Beach and features a working lighthouse, chocolate shop, and live theatre. Street parking can be tight, so smaller tow vehicles are recommended.
The Gateway Village area in Borden-Carleton offers close-up views of the 12.9 km Confederation Bridge and interpretive displays on its construction. The site has a large lot that accommodates RVs.
Summerside's Baywalk boardwalk follows the harbour and connects to shops, restaurants, and the Eptek Art and Culture Centre. The paved, level route is suitable for walking and casual cycling.
Great communication, nice, clean camper. Tyler was very friendly and accommodating, would definitely rent again!

Great experience! Host was great to communicate with!

This trip was amazing! It all started the day before we were supposed to pick up the RV, I was admitted into the hospital to have my appendix removed. Our hosts had a few days after we finished our original trip so they bumped it four days to accommodate our trip. We changed our plans but it worked out for the best. We traveled all around the south part of Nova Scotia, staying at The Ovens, Scallywags in Clare and then the last stop was at the campground at the Blomidon Lookoff. The RV was absolutely perfect from start to finish and for the size of it was very good on fuel. $465 for just over 1200km in a F-450, which is great fuel mileage. We normally go testing but tried this, our next testing camping trip will be horrible. Lol. We will feel spoiled. If you are considering this size of vehicle and this style of trip, this vehicle and host make the experience so much better! Book it while you can!

The rv was just the right size for our family of 5 to create a memorable trip. The rv is fully equipped, has plenty of power to climb and safely descend Cape Bretons Cabot trail and surroundings plus tons of little extras. We were actually impressed by the fuel consumption and handling of this rv. All being said, we agree with pretty much all the previous reviews. The host(s) were spot on and adaptive to our needs. Once again, no regrets going with RVezy.

Chelton Beach Provincial Park, PE, Canada
Chelton Beach is about a 20 to 25 minute drive (roughly 25 km) from Summerside and about 15 minutes from Borden-Carleton, where the Confederation Bridge connects PEI to New Brunswick. From Charlottetown, allow roughly one hour via Route 1 and Route 10. RV drivers crossing the Confederation Bridge should note it is a high, exposed span with wind advisories for high-profile vehicles, and tolls are collected only when leaving the island. The nearest airport for fly-and-rent trips is Charlottetown Airport (YYG), approximately 75 km east.
