Spring, from March through May, is generally the most pleasant time to visit, with mild temperatures, wildflowers, and comfortable nights for RV camping. Fall, from late September through November, is another strong window, with cooler air and fewer insects. Summer weekends are busy and hot, often reaching into the upper 90s Fahrenheit, so early reservations and air conditioning are advised. Winter is mild but can bring occasional freezes and rain, and it is the quietest season in the campground.

Anglers fish Cedar Lake from shore, piers, and small boats for largemouth bass, catfish, and sunfish. Only electric motors and paddle craft are allowed, keeping the lake calm and quiet. A Texas fishing license is not required when fishing from shore within a state park.
Cedar Lake is well suited to kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards thanks to its no-gas-motor rule. Paddlers can explore quiet coves lined with cedar and hardwoods. Launch areas near the day-use parking provide room for RV tow vehicles to unload gear.
A designated swim area on Cedar Lake offers a cool break during hot Texas summers. Swimmers enter from a grassy bank with nearby picnic tables and restrooms. There is no lifeguard, so visitors swim at their own risk.
The Spillway Trail is a short, easy walk from the campground area down to the historic CCC-built spillway at the dam. It showcases 1930s stonework and offers views of the lake outflow. The trail is manageable for most visitors and links to other park paths.
Coyote Run is a wooded loop that winds through cedar brakes and over rolling terrain typical of the Fort Worth Prairie edge. Hikers often spot deer, lizards, and songbirds. It is a good introductory hike before tackling longer park trails.
Whispering Meadow Trail climbs gentle ridges and passes through mixed woodland and small clearings. It offers longer mileage for hikers and mountain bikers looking for a moderate workout. Trailhead parking near the main park road accommodates tow vehicles.
The park is a reliable spot for viewing white-tailed deer, armadillos, eastern wild turkey, and a variety of songbirds. Early morning and dusk near the lake and open meadows are the best times. Bring binoculars and move slowly along the trail edges.
Day-use picnic areas feature classic Civilian Conservation Corps rockwork, with shaded tables overlooking Cedar Lake. Several pavilions and spots are reservable for groups. Parking pull-offs along the park road are large enough for tow vehicles but not full-length RVs.
Steven was very responsive and communicated effectively. I would definitely recommend them for a weekend getaway.

Cleburne State Park, TX, United States
The park is reached from U.S. Highway 67 and Park Road 21, about 10 miles southwest of Cleburne and roughly 60 miles (about 1 hour 15 minutes) south of Fort Worth. From Dallas, plan on about 75 miles and 1 hour 30 minutes via I-35W and US-67. The approach roads are paved two-lane highways with a few rolling grades and a narrow, curving park road inside the park, so larger Class A coaches should take interior turns slowly and watch for low-hanging branches on some campground loops. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers is Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), about 75 miles northeast.
