Best time to visit Cross Timbers State Park

Late April through early June and September through October are generally the best windows for RV travel, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and active fishing on Toronto Lake. Summer brings hot, humid conditions and peak weekend crowds around July 4 and Labor Day, so reservations for electric sites are recommended. Spring can bring severe thunderstorms typical of the southern Plains, and shoulder-season travelers should watch for wind advisories. Winter is quiet with cold nights and occasional ice storms.

Access roads are paved two-lane county and state highways with no tunnels, low clearances, or steep mountain grades, making them suitable for most RV sizes, though drivers should watch for narrow shoulders and rural rail crossings.
