Late spring through early fall, roughly April to October, is the most reliable window for RV travel, with warm days, open campground services, and the park pool typically operating in summer. May, June, September, and October offer the best balance of comfortable temperatures, lower humidity, and thinner weekend crowds. Summer weekends and holidays fill quickly, so reserve early. Winter stays are possible but colder, with the pool closed and some seasonal services reduced.

The park's centerpiece is a replica of the log cabin where David Crockett was born, along with a limestone monument marking the birthplace site. It sits a short walk from the main parking area and is accessible to RV travelers stopping for a day visit.
The visitor center houses exhibits on Davy Crockett's life, frontier culture, and the surrounding region's history. It is a good first stop for interpretive context and park maps.
A flat, easy trail follows the Nolichucky River through the park's bottomland, offering shade, bird-watching, and river views. The path is well suited to families and casual walkers staying at the campground.
The park operates an outdoor seasonal swimming pool, typically open in summer, with a bathhouse adjacent to the campground. It is a popular cool-off for RV families during hot East Tennessee afternoons.
Anglers can fish the Nolichucky from the park's riverbank for species such as smallmouth bass, catfish, and sunfish. A valid Tennessee fishing license is required for anglers of eligible age.
The park has shaded picnic areas with tables and grills plus playgrounds near the day-use zone. These make convenient lunch or break stops for RV travelers passing through the region.
The park's amphitheater hosts seasonal interpretive and ranger-led programs, including partner events with Andrew Johnson National Historic Site. These evening programs are presented in the state park amphitheater located behind the park visitor center. nps.gov/anjo/learn/news/andrew-johnson-the-homestead-act.htm
The park makes a good base for exploring Jonesborough, Tennessee's oldest town, and nearby Greeneville with Andrew Johnson National Historic Site. Both are within a short drive and feature historic downtowns suitable for a half-day RV day trip.
The rv worked perfect for us. Plenty of room and everything worked great. The hosts were great with communication and really helped get us out of a last minute bind with our travel arrangements. Rv was was put together, clean and clean sheets and towels as well. Look forward to renting from again in the future

Great camper, great price. We have never camped in an rv before so we had to figure some things out. Luckily we were able to connect with them to get things hooked up. Once we got all that taken care of we had a good time camping. The camper had all the essentials like pots, pans, silverware, dinner ware, etc. Bath fan does not work.

Was perfect for our family trip to Louder than Life 2025! Drove like a dream, great on fuel mileage, and was so nice to come back every night to A/C and soft beds. Any questions I had the owner responded almost immediately and was so easy to deal with. Hope i convinced him to join us at LTL 2026. Would definitely recommend, 10/10, and will be renting him again in the future

David Crockett Birthplace State Park, TN, United States
The park sits just off US 11E near Limestone, Tennessee, about 15 minutes from Greeneville and roughly an hour (about 60 miles) from Knoxville via I-81 and I-40. Johnson City and the Tri-Cities area are about 30 to 40 minutes northeast, and Asheville, North Carolina is approximately two hours southeast over mountainous I-26. RV drivers should expect typical Appalachian grades on I-26 and secondary roads, and should watch for low-clearance rural bridges and narrow shoulders on the final county-road approach. The nearest major fly-and-rent airport is Tri-Cities Airport (TRI) near Blountville, with Knoxville (TYS) and Asheville (AVL) as larger alternatives.
