Late spring through early fall, roughly May to September, is the best window for RV travel, with warm weather, an open swim beach, and the boat ramps in full operation. June and September offer milder temperatures and smaller crowds than the July and August peak around Ohio school holidays. Shoulder months in April and October can be pleasant for fall foliage and fishing, but overnight temperatures can drop below freezing and some campground loops or the dump station may be closed. Winter camping is available on a limited basis, but water and full services are offered only during the main camping season.

Delaware Lake is a roughly 1,300-acre reservoir open to powerboats, pontoons, and paddlecraft with unlimited horsepower. Anglers target largemouth bass, crappie, saugeye, channel catfish, and bluegill from shore or boat. Paved launch ramps offer trailer parking suitable for RV tow vehicles.
The park's sandy public swim beach stretches along the west side of the reservoir and is open seasonally during daylight hours. Amenities include changing rooms, picnic tables, and a nearby concession area. A large day-use lot accommodates tow vehicles and shorter RVs.
Lakeview Trail is a short, mostly level hiking path that follows the shoreline of Delaware Lake through hardwood forest. It is a good option for an easy morning or evening walk from the campground. Wildlife sightings commonly include deer, wild turkey, and shoreline waterfowl.
Mink Run Trail is a wooded loop on the east side of the park featuring rolling terrain, a small stream crossing, and mature forest habitat. It is suitable for casual hikers and birdwatchers. Parking is available at a trailhead lot accessible from the main park road.
Several picnic areas with tables, grills, and shelters are spread along the shoreline and near the beach. Reservable shelters are popular for family gatherings during warm weather. Most day-use lots include space suitable for RVs and tow vehicles.
The adjacent Delaware Wildlife Area, managed by the Ohio Division of Wildlife, borders the upper end of the reservoir and is a regional hotspot for waterfowl and raptor viewing, especially during spring and fall migration. Access points include gravel pull-offs and small lots. Hunting is permitted in season, so non-hunters should check seasonal regulations before visiting.
The paved campground loop roads are popular for casual cycling and evening strolls. Seasonal naturalist programs, when offered, cover topics such as local wildlife, reservoir ecology, and Ohio history at the park amphitheater.
Was a quick 3 day weekend. It couldn’t have been easier. Mark was very accessible and helpful. Would definitely recommend renting from him.

Delaware State Park, OH, United States
The park sits just off U.S. Route 23 about 6 miles north of Delaware, Ohio, and roughly 30 miles north of downtown Columbus, a drive of about 40 minutes. From Cleveland it is about a 2 hour 15 minute drive south via I-71 and US-36, and from Dayton about 1 hour 45 minutes via I-70 and US-23. Terrain is flat central Ohio farmland with no tunnels, mountain passes, or steep grades, so large RVs and trailers can reach the park easily on four-lane highways. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH), approximately 45 miles south.
