Late June through early September offers the driest, warmest weather in the San Juan Islands, with calmer seas for small-boat and kayak crossings. July and August are peak season, when Orcas Island campgrounds and ferries fill up quickly, so reservations well in advance are recommended. May, early June, and September are pleasant shoulder-season options with fewer crowds and easier ferry bookings. Winter visits are possible but cold, wet, and often windy, with limited marine traffic.

This was our first time renting a trailer and it was awesome! Mark and his wife were lovely people and it was a pleasure meeting and communicating with them. We had everything we needed in the trailer and it worked perfectly for where we were with no hookups. Anytime we had questions, Mark was very quick to answer and explained everything about the trailer before they left. Thank you so much guys! :)

Doe Island Marine State Park, WA, United States
RV travelers cannot drive directly to Doe Island, as access is by boat only from nearby Orcas Island. From Seattle, plan roughly 90 miles (about 2 hours) north on I-5 to Anacortes, then board a Washington State Ferry to Orcas Island; ferry reservations for RVs are strongly recommended and vehicles are charged by overall length. From Orcas Island's east side, boaters and kayakers launch from points such as Doe Bay or Obstruction Pass. The nearest major airport for fly-and-rent trips is Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA), about a 2-hour drive from the Anacortes ferry terminal.
