Spring, from April through early June, is prime for wildflowers, flowing waterfalls in the sandstone canyons, and mild hiking weather. Fall, from mid-October into early November, delivers strong oak-hickory color and cooler, drier trails. Summer visits are possible but can be hot, humid, and buggy, while winter hikes offer quiet forest views when trail surfaces are dry.

The Sandstone Canyon Trail is the park's signature hike, a roughly 3-mile loop that winds past towering sandstone bluffs, narrow canyons, and small seasonal waterfalls. Expect uneven footing on rock slabs and roots, plus a few creek crossings. Day-use parking at the main trailhead accommodates vehicles including small to mid-size RVs.
The LaBarque Hills Trail is a roughly 2.7-mile loop through oak-hickory forest and rolling hills that connects to the broader LaBarque Creek watershed. It is quieter than the canyon trail and offers solid terrain for day hikers looking for a moderate outing.
Spring brings a strong wildflower display along both trails, with trillium, phlox, and Dutchman's breeches common in the canyon bottoms. The LaBarque Creek watershed is known for high stream biodiversity, making the park a strong pick for nature observation.
The park's sheer sandstone walls, shelter caves, and stream corridors make for strong landscape photography throughout the year. Morning and late-afternoon light work well in the canyons, and autumn adds hardwood color overhead.
The park has day-use picnic areas near the trailheads suitable for a break between hikes. RV travelers can pair a midday picnic with a short hike before returning to a campground in the greater St. Louis area.
The mix of mature forest, stream corridor, and sandstone glade habitats draws a range of woodland songbirds, woodpeckers, and raptors. Spring migration and early summer are the most productive times for birding on the park's trails.
Thanks again Ray, outstanding communication and everything was as he said! No complaints, would rent from him again.

The van was easy to drive, the bed was comfortable and pick up and drop off was a breeze. Definitely recommend for anyone wanting an adventure on wheels!

Betty White was perfect for my adult daughter and I for the Indi 500. Betty drove nicely. I slept on the bed and we brought a foam pad and cushion so she could sleep in the large storage area under the bed. Everything worked

Don Robinson State Park, MO, United States
The park sits off Byrnes Mill Road near Cedar Hill, roughly 30 miles (about 40 minutes) southwest of downtown St. Louis and about 20 miles south of Interstate 44. Most RV travelers approach via I-44 or Highway 30, then use state routes toward Cedar Hill; the final approach roads are narrow rural two-lanes, so large Class A rigs should drive cautiously and watch for low-clearance bridges. St. Louis Lambert International Airport is the nearest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers, roughly an hour away.
