Spring, from March through May, offers warm days, lower humidity, and excellent beach and paddling conditions before summer heat peaks. Fall, from late September through November, brings mild temperatures, smaller crowds, and good fishing as migratory birds pass through. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms and the highest risk of tropical weather, so RV travelers should monitor hurricane season forecasts from June through November. Winter is generally mild and quiet, ideal for snowbird RVers seeking a peaceful Gulf Coast stay.

Miles of uncrowded white-sand Gulf beach front the park's day-use areas. Visitors swim, sunbathe, and hunt for shells along the surf line. Beach access boardwalks include nearby parking suitable for tow vehicles.
The East Slough boardwalk is a short accessible walk with views of salt marsh and tidal flats. It is a prime spot for birdwatching, especially during spring and fall migration.
Anglers fish both the Gulf surf and the calmer Apalachicola Bay side of the park. Common catches include redfish, flounder, whiting, and pompano. A Florida saltwater fishing license is required for adults.
The bay side offers sheltered water ideal for kayaks and paddleboards, with a designated paddling trail through seagrass flats. Wildlife sightings include dolphins, wading birds, and ospreys.
A roughly 2.5-mile one-way hiking trail leads through pine flatwoods and coastal scrub to the Gap Point primitive campsite on the bay. The flat route is sandy in places and exposed to sun, so carry water.
The park is an official stop on the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. Shorebirds, raptors, and migratory songbirds are commonly observed from boardwalks and beaches.
A bayside boat ramp provides access to Apalachicola Bay for small boats, kayaks, and fishing skiffs. Parking accommodates trailers, making it convenient for RVers towing a boat.

Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park, FL, United States
The park is reached via US-98 to Eastpoint, then south across the St. George Island Bridge on County Road 300, roughly a 75-mile, 90-minute drive southwest of Tallahassee. Panama City is about 85 miles to the west, approximately 1 hour 45 minutes by road. RV drivers should note the causeway bridge is exposed to strong crosswinds, and the final park road is narrow with sandy shoulders, so large rigs should drive cautiously. Tallahassee International Airport is the closest major airport for fly-and-rent travelers.
